Kenmore 110.87572601 makes a loud screeching noise when drum turns when dryer is on?
For the past 4 days or so our dryer makes a loud screeching noise. It started out just occasionally, and now it is more frequent, lasting almost the whole drying cycle.

A loud screeching sound from your dryer could be caused by a few different issues. Here are a few things you can check:
Belt: A worn or broken belt can cause a loud screeching sound. To check this, unplug the dryer and remove the front panel. Look for any signs of wear or damage to the belt. If it looks worn or broken, you'll need to replace it.
Drum Rollers: Dryer drum rollers can also cause a loud screeching noise. You can check this by turning the drum by hand. If it feels rough or wobbles, the rollers may be worn and need to be replaced.
Idler Pulley: A faulty idler pulley can cause a screeching noise. You can check this by removing the belt and spinning the pulley by hand. If it feels rough or wobbles, it may need to be replaced.
Motor: A motor that is failing can also cause a loud screeching noise. You can check this by turning the drum by hand and listening for any unusual sounds coming from the motor.
If you're not comfortable checking these components yourself, it's best to call a professional to diagnose and repair the issue.
A dryer kit contains the wheels that the drum turns on, new glides, to keep the drum in place, and a tension pulley for the belt. You may also need a rear bearing. I'd say about $60 in parts and an hour or two & you'd be good to go.
Likely one of the tension wheels has no lubrication. You may need to place dryer on its front and check the drum belt path. CAREFULLY lubricate the shaft if each tensioner wheel with vasoline - using a qtip.
Only a few things will make that noise. The squeaking is caused by a moving part having trouble turning while rubbing against a fixed part.
The idler pulley is worn
The drum support rollers are hard turning on their shafts
The felt seals at the front or back of the drum is worn allowing metal to metal contact while turning
An article has fallen into the housing around the blower wheel and the wheel is rubbing on it.
Listen for the frequency of the sound. The drum rollers and drum felts will squeak at the frequency of the tub turning. The idler pulley turns much faster as does the blower wheel. Knowing this will help pin down the cause.
The following link has valuable information on taking apart your style of dryer:
Likely the main drum bearing in the back. I have seen these go bad, and loud squeaky noise tells you. You can get a new main bearing and replace. It is in the center of the back of the drum, accessee through back panel of dryer usually.
