IMac inbox duplicates all entries (2 X )

The inbox on my IMac Leopard always has two entries, and I routinely delete one to enjoy a "clean slate".

onteo; thanks for your answer of Nov 5.  I have been studying Article 1452 and afraid to monkey with my Leopard Install DVD as suggested. I have checked "bom" files in Library/Receipts. I don't know how to use Disc Utility to verify/repair permissions. Introducing Disc Utility to my Receipt files is a problem for me.  How do I do this? I am a NEWBIE and new to Apple. Thanks, and if you have any more ideas, I'd appreciate.

I really do think you have helped me study this, but..... Thanks onteo !

Try any app that would do it for you. Something like "Iceclean" would help. Google for it :)

Hi Bayonet,
The problems seems to be with some of us :)
Have you tried to repair permissions?
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1452  (apple support article about disk permissions)

It worked for me:) I hope it does it for you.

Hi,

best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Unfortunately Snow Leopard requires a intel processor to work so the G5 imac will not be able to run the system.

I have imac. and i want to change his operating

Yes it is very easy to do as you are running a Mac with Intel Processor. You have Mac OSx Leopard with updates 1,2, & 3. To upgrade to Mac OSx Snow Leopard you must buy the upgrade. Go here: http://www.apple.com/macosx/ On the top right click (Buy Now) You will have to pay $29 which is a bargain. Once you get the upgrade on CD simply follow the directions for the simple upgrade. I did the same thing when Snow Leopard came out. It is well worth the $29.

If your iMac is an Intel Core 2 Duo running Leopard, it's certainly not a G4.
From the symptoms described, you have either a bad LCD panel or a bad LVDS cable. Either way, what the tech told you is wrong. They can both be replaced. Whether it is cost-effective or not is for you to decide.

Bought used iMac and need documentation for Leopard OS.

go to

manuals.info.apple.com/en/Welcome_to_Leopard.pdf

It gives you the basics. The support section on the apple website should help you as well also the help on Leopard is quite good. But if you want to get more information it is probably advisable to visit your local library or buy something like Dummies Guide to Leopard (Not Snow Leopard)

20" iMac Boot

Ar this is a regular problem i get when people try to install Windows XP or Linux on Boot camp e.t.c.
What's happened is Linux has Tampered with the boot up files and now it won't be able to boot into Linux or Leopard.
What you need to do is insert you Leopard Install disk that came with you iMac Into the Disk Drive, the disk/disks are grey and may be two CDs or 1 DVD.
Restart the iMac and the moment you hear the chimes go off when it boots up, Hold down C on the keyboard. The boot disk for leopard will then boot up,
From here follow the instructions and if your lucky you may be able to upgrade, if not, go through the system utility and repair disk permissions e.t.c.
If nothing works, You will have to do a clean install,
But you may be able to recover a thew images and mp3 files with a great bit of software i like to use, http://www.prosofteng.com/products/data_rescue.php
You do have to pay for it, and you will need to install it on macbook e.t.c. if you have one in order for it to work If your confused there is a number of guides out there on that website or on google
Hope i have been of any help
Regards

My imac 0s 10.5.7 goes blank and restarts mid work. I thought maybe a mouse problem so took off the wireless and put on the one that came with the imac. That didn't solve the problem.

It sounds like either a hardware problem that has been shown up when you installed Leopard, or your Leopard install hasn't gone smoothly.
IS it a new install?
