Re: sims complete collection won't run on my windows...
The Sims collection does have some compatability issues with vista but EA has worked on it and actually it should run fine.May be any running process is conflicting with the game or you may have to update your Display drivers.
Also try using the compatability mode.Just right click on the game *.exe and select properties.then select the compatability tab and check the box "run in compatability with Win Xp[sp2]".
In adition you can check for any available patches here.

I had this problem too. In vista you have to choose to run the sims in xp or an earlier mode. I ran mine in windows ME mode. you also have to slelect "run this program as administrator". then you should be able to save your game.
One of the biggest problems is that you are running it on Vista. The Sims Complete Collection was not developed with Vista in mind so there will be compatibility issues. One thing that you can try to fix this is right click it and click run as administrator. The reason why i say to do this is because one of the big things that vista tried to stop was viruses destroying your operating system by editing files without permission. By running as administrator, you override these rules. Programs cannot start themselves as administrator. This should clear any problems right up.
I had the same problem, when I installed the sims on my new lap top (with vista) it just kept repeating the 'loading the expansion packs' thing. I uninstalled it and re-installed it, and it solved that problem. HOWEVER, I now have a new problem, it gets stuck in transit to any place, so you may fix that problem with the uninstalling and re-installing-but I don't know what the new problem might be!
This edition is having some known compatibility issues with Vista. So please check for any patches or updates which will fix this.If you are unable to find, post a reply.I will check for relevant urls.
