The turntable is going too fast because the singing coming out sounds like the chipmunk's any trouble shooting tips??

You are likely playing a 33 rpm record while the turntable is set to 45 rpm. You need to find the speed control and adjust it to the media you are playing.

Otpimus 1000 will play 45 speed but not 33?

That is a belt drive unit. If there is no speed adjustment. You need to take the platter off and check the capstan and belts.

How do I adjust the speed of a Sony LX250H turntable? The answer is not in my manual.

Presumably you mean correcting the speed to play 45 and 33 correctly?
Some turntables have the speed control(s) as a preset(s) built into the base on the underside of the unit. Often covered with a sticker. You simply remove the sticker and stick a small screwdriver in the thing and turn it.
Others have the preset inside on a circuit board, got to by removing the bottom of the turntable. Others have it built into the motor itself.
You should replace the belt first if the speed is slow on both 45 and 33, before adjusting the motor speed.

Speed seems a little slow on 33s. How can I fix this?

Hello,
If the problem is encountered on both speeds, 45 & 33, then there is a high chance that you are in need of a belt replacement.
Here is a general guide on how to replace a turntable belt.
You can also use it to check the belt status.

Even though i am playing my record on normal speed, it plays to fast

if your turntable doesn't have a pitch control (like the dj's turntables) if you open it you should find on the board close from the 45-33 rpm switch a variable resistor ( a small electronic part with a sort of disc on top with in the middle of it a place for a flat screw driver and marking like + and - those resistor are made to control the speed and can go bad or just need to be adjusted . First try to adjust it turning the dial really carefully with a small screw driver if nothing happened it could need to be replace.

there should be a small switch on the inside of the turn table that allows you to switch from 45 (what i think your listening to) to the normal speed which i think is 33

My audio technica turntable is playing records too fast. how do i fix this?

there are two small holes under the unit labeled 33 and 45 that control speed. im guessing youre mainly playing lps so use a flathead jewlers screw to adjust the 33 setting until you get the right speed

What is required to convert 78rpm records to mp3 format?

The cartridge must have a stylus for 78rpm records. If the turntable does not have a 78 speed play it back at 45rpm. Record it and using the software you have or get one such as Audio Cleaning Lab, just select the option to convert from 45 to 78. You can then carry out any audio modifications to clean it up, then save it as an MP3.
Never use a 45/33 stylus to play a 78 and never use a 78 to play a 45/33 record.

Strange speed

Well, there isn't much on this unit that controls the speed. It's either your belt or your motor that's gone or going bad. Try replacing the belt first. If you still have the same issue, you might need to have a tech look at it. The 33/45 switches might have also gone out, but it doesn't like this is the issue.

Hope this helps.
