How I do disable extended desktop

are you just wanting to turn off a secondary screen that is attached? are you wanting to run the screen in 'clone' mode? or is 'extended desktop' mode seemingly activated even though there is no secondary screen?

-   Clearing the checkbox causes the second monitor to stop receivinga video  signal. When i F8 again to send the video signal to the monitor, extended desktop turns back on. It looks like a bug in windows... there's no way I can see to restore what you call "clone mode" once you have extended your desktop onto a second monitor. This is a problem since I need to be able to present to a projector, as well as work with the machine in extended desktop mode. Any ideas?

-   On my Gateway laptop, I extended the monitor, then turned it off to return to a mirror image, and now the second monitor wont work at all.

What can be done about this?

-   I have this same problem i cant get back to my desktop normall, i hit extended desktop, and it took everything away, when i right click an click personalize nothing comes up at all....... -   jmhzy

Windows vista :
Right click on your desktop > Personalize > Display Settings > Click on the second monitor icon (monitor picture with number 2 in it) > Clear the checkmark at "Extend the desktop onto this monitor" > OK

Windows XP :
Right click on your desktop > Properties > Display Settings > Click on the second monitor icon (monitor picture with number 2 in it) > Clear the checkmark at "Extend the desktop onto this monitor" > OK

That should fix it
