I have this same problem i cant get back to my desktop normall, i hit extended desktop, and it took everything away, when i right click an click personalize nothing comes up at all.......

On my Gateway laptop, I extended the monitor, then turned it off to return to a mirror image, and now the second monitor wont work at all.

What can be done about this?

    Thank You!

Clearing the checkbox causes the second monitor to stop receivinga video  signal. When i F8 again to send the video signal to the monitor, extended desktop turns back on. It looks like a bug in windows... there's no way I can see to restore what you call "clone mode" once you have extended your desktop onto a second monitor. This is a problem since I need to be able to present to a projector, as well as work with the machine in extended desktop mode. Any ideas?

are you just wanting to turn off a secondary screen that is attached? are you wanting to run the screen in 'clone' mode? or is 'extended desktop' mode seemingly activated even though there is no secondary screen?

Windows vista :
Right click on your desktop > Personalize > Display Settings > Click on the second monitor icon (monitor picture with number 2 in it) > Clear the checkmark at "Extend the desktop onto this monitor" > OK

Windows XP :
Right click on your desktop > Properties > Display Settings > Click on the second monitor icon (monitor picture with number 2 in it) > Clear the checkmark at "Extend the desktop onto this monitor" > OK

That should fix it

How to enable touchpad on Toshiba Satellite L850?

Locate the "Fn" key in the lower right or left corner of the laptop keyboard.

The "Fn" key typically has different colored text on it or the key itself is a different color.

Locate the function (F1 through F12) key at the top of the keyboard that disables or enables the touchpad on the laptop.

The key typically has an icon that resembles a touchpad with a finger touching it or a touchpad with a diagonal line through it.

Press both the "Fn" and touchpad Function key simultaneously to reactive the touchpad on your laptop.

Move your finger along the touchpad to verify that it works.

Press the combination at any time to disable the touchpad again.

hope this helps

Hi everyone!! I've readed all the posts you've made, but my trouble is a little bit different. I'm trying to install XP on a toshiba satellite T215D-SP1002L, but when finishes to load all the drivers and...

I understand your problem.

As you have indicated, the problem occurs just after installation of XP and the Toshiba hardware drivers.

From past history, the most likely device would be the wireless driver, and then maybe the audio or graphics driver.

Reboot your computer and press the F8 key, when the boot selection screen appears, select Safe Mode. Many device drivers will not be loaded in this mode. If the blue screen does not come up, then go to device manager and disable the wrieless device and reboot normally. If no problems, you should go to the link I have provided below by copying and pasteing into your web browser to the support page for your Toshiba model laptop. Select your wirless device driver for your XP operating system, download and and install, then reboot. Your may have to do this for other hardware as normally this is a primary cause of the system shutdowns.

if you have the xp installation disk, you can do a repair...then hopefully it will recognize your harddrive long enough to be able to give commands to fix it.
