LG Rumor - No Message Alert

My Rumor has stopped alerting me to messages. It will not alert me to text, vm, or picture mail. I have updated alert type in settings and this has not worked. How do I fix it to alert me to new messages?

A few days ago, my LG Rumor stopped alerting me to new text messages. I tried everything from setting it to vibrate, to trying a custom tone. Nothing works.

Mine has done the same thing. I have checked all settings. It should be notifying me. When testing the volume in the sounds settings I turn it up and the preview does not ring either.

I have the same problem with my LG Rumor. The link posted in the previous is a handy-dandy printer driver for a Brother printer. Thanks for that...

My Rumor is doing the same thing, it seemed to have started right after the last firmware update.

I fixed my problem by going to SETTINGS then performing a firmware update then turning off the phone and powering it up again.  No problems since!

Remove the battery while the phone is ON.
Let it rest for a few seconds.
Reinsert the battery and turn it back ON.

Once the phone is ON, please go to:

Menu
Settings
Security
Enter your lock code
Select Delete/Reset > All Settings (A disclaimer appears)
Read the disclaimer and press OK.

Press YES to delete all the factory settings. After these steps, please try setting the Message Reminder again

Rumor 2 only beeps when the message is received - no reminder alerts that the message is waiting to be read

Update:

Mine does work after all. You can't make it vibrate but it will make a sound every five minutes after a missed call/text. The only problem is that the audible sound isn't very loud and I see no way of increasing the volume for it. I just assumed it didn't work because apparently it was too low for me to hear at the time. BUT IT'S BETTER THAN NOTHING!!! I'm just glad it works. Make sure your message reminder is set to "ON". Go to --->TOOLS & SETTINGS>SETTINGS>MESSAGING>MESSAGE SOUNDS>MESSAGE REMINDER> CHOOSE ON OR OFF. To test it.. Send a text to your phone but don't acknowledge or touch any buttons. Wait 5 minutes and your phone should make an alert noise. Keep the phone near you the whole time so you don't miss it. It will continue to alert you every 5 minutes until you acknowledge it.

Removing/clearing message icon on my rumor!

In "Messaging" go into Voice Mail (number 1) and select Clear Icon (Number 3).

Go into Settings/Tools- Settings (#1)- Messaging (#5)-Notification (#1)- Change this To Icon only.

Still in Messaging, select Message Reminder (#5) and change it so it doesnt keep sending reminders.

If its telling you you have a text just go in each inbox and selcet Delete all... see if that helps.

Setting ringtones as you text message alert tones

You CAN set a song as your text alert tone. Here are the steps:
1- Go to: Settings> Profiles>
2- Select your options (e.g. normal, vibrate and ring, etc....)
3- select Options> Customize (2)>
4- Highlight "Message Sound" and select Options> Customize (2),
5- Then browse to the folder your song or sound is in (e.g. audio) and select the file you want to use and save it.

I noticed that the songs have to be under 30 seconds to use as any type of alert tone for calls or texts.

Hopefully this helps.

Voicemail alert tones

I think that there is just a generic message alert tone setting applies for both vm and text. If your voicemail alert tone and message alert tones are the same, this is probably the case. I have searched the menu on my phone and haven't found any setting to change vm tone specifically.
