Question about Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

Goodman heater won't come on

Changed thermostat due to having to manually turn a/c on. A/c worked great during summer but when I went to turn on heat this winter I get nothing. I suspected thermostat and "played :(" with wiring. I then called Hunter and know that I have wiring correct. However, now I get NO POWER to the thermostat. I think there is a fuse or a reset switch but even with panels off I cannot find it.

PLEASE HELP WE ARE COLD, THANKS IN ADVANCE!

I would suspect if there is no power to the R terminal on your thermostat that the power is off at the furnace, or the 24 volt control transformer is bad. Check from R to C on the transformer for voltage with a meter with the power on to the furnace. If you have no power reading of 24-28 volts between R & C replace the transformer.

What is going on with our Goodman unit?

If your going to pay that much just have them put in a new unit. It is not that much more and you can get free financing. All the repairman can do is guess and keep putting in new parts till it works. Had a new unit put in and it still didn't work found out it was a bad thermostat. But at lest we don't have the repair bills or high electric bill anymore so it paid for its self in saved money.

Goodman wall mount heater not working

What type of thermostat digital or manual, if distal try to pull off front cover n see if that turn it off if it does this means u have a bad thermostat n needs to be replaced. If it's a manual then try to disconnect white wire on w screw ,of course turn power off to heater , and see if that turn heater off if so replace thermostat. Hope this was helpful.

SOLEUS KFHHP-22 - Heater doesn't blow air at all, warm or cold. Cooling works great but no heat.

Doesn't matter how hot it was when installed, there still should have been proper start up performed. That means running unit thru all cycles and checking charge. If it was installed this summer then installer should warranty service to return and complete install properly.

We gave a Goodmn Hertz 60 Phase I heat pump - installed this summer....worked great for cooling..now that temps are dropping we are needing heat. When we turn it on it comes on but never heats. Think it...

If you changed the unit but didn't change the thermostat it is possible that the thermostat that you have will not work with that unit. I see that the unit you installed is a heat pump, you may have a straight cool T-Stat. If you put the T-Stat in the "Auto" "Heat" mode the outdoor fan and the compressor should be workng as well as the blower fan. If it turns out that the outdoor fan and compressor are not running you will want to buy a Thernostat that is compatable with heatpumps should be 2 heat/ 1 cool

Goodman with 2 thermostats, freezes in summer, no heat in winter

is the system zoned? if so maybe the zoning control board to the damper motor is wired improperly. when a system freezez its because of 1- restricted air flow across coil, (maybe dirty filter) or 2-low refrigerant charge. again could depend on how its zoned.

Goodman: My Power Venter (aka Heat and Draft Inducer) won't start

The power ventor most likely needs to be replaced. But be advised. Goodman normally will not sell parts to anyone but a certified technician. I had to show my masters certificate to buy parts from their outlet. This is a part that has a high rate of failure.

Goodman ac / heat pump

I just had a new unit installed and I am surfing for troubleshooting tips too. My unit is doing the same... cools well heat sucks. my problem has been isolated down to the reversing valve... It is constantly energised which means it is constantly in a/c mode even when kicking on the heat strips... We disconnected a line at the thermostat and it is working well as a heater now. You may want to check yours to see if it is actually kicking over into to heat mode... -rob

Rheem furnaace blower stays on

On a furnace the fan is controlled by a computer and a sensor ot a oldstyle fan thermostat. Basically it waits till the furnace heats up a little and then turns it on and after it shuts off it will run till the thermostat cools back down may take a few mins. In cool mode the thermostat controls the fan so it shuts down immediatly. This is why the thermostat asks you if its electric or gas heat. Should have a switch somewhere for this.
