Question about Microwave Ovens

Whirlpool OTR microwave no oven 'fan'

Our whirlpool OTR microwave MH7110XBQ shuts down.  The item being heated gets very hot very quickly, and there is no "fan" noise when the microwave oven is on.  You can hear the microwave tube operating, but it seems like the fan that circulates the microwave/heat is nonfunctioning.
We were able to tap on the keyboard, which would restart the "fan" noise,as if there was a loose connection behind the keypad, but now the oven just hums and the microwave shuts down after a few moments.
All other functions:  clock, light, exhaust fan, etc work normally.
Can this be easily repaired, or should we start shopping for a replacement?

FIRST ,,MICROWAVE OVENS ARE REALLY SAFTY MINDED AND THATS A GOOD THING....THERE ARE USUALLY THREE DOOR SWITHCES NEXT THE KEYBOARD--THE ONE ON TOP AND THE ONE ON BOTTOM ARE PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SWITCHES,,YOUR PROBLEM SOUNDS LIKE ONE OF THESE IS NOT MAKING CONNECTION..YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO PRESS 'DOWN" WITH A LITTLE PRESSURE ON THE DOOR AFTER CLOSING TO SEE IF THE FAN WILL START,,,IF YOU NOTICE --THERE ARE 2 LATCHES(HOOKS) COMING OUT OF THE DOOR,,WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED,THOSE LATCHES ARE SPRING LOADED AND MAKE CONTACT ON THOSE SAFTY SWITCHES....THIS IS NOT A CUSTOMER REPAIR--MICRO'S ARE JUST TO DANGEROUS WHEN YOU TAKE THE COVER OFF--IF THIS DOES BRING THE FAN BACK ON--YOU GOT A BAD DOOR SWITCH AND SHOULD BE A REASONABLE REPAIR
THE OTHER SOLUTION STILL WOULD BE A CONNECTION PROBLEM ON THE KEYBOARD ITSELF-THE WIRES JUST PLUG ON THE CIRCUIT BOARD BEHIND THE KEYBOARD---STILL A EASY REPAIR--GOOD LUCK TUNICA

OTR Samsung Microwave fan comes on with no reason. Any way to fix it?

Does this happen while you are cooking on the range burners under the control panel?? These type microwaves have a heat sensor built into them in the area of the control panel bottom. If the microwave control gets too hot from cooking on the stove below it the heat sensor will turn the fan on to keep the control panel from getting heat damage. The fan should go off after everything cools off.

Whirlpool microwave (modle no. mh7110xbq-2) without trying to cook or heat anything, compleatly shuts down... no power at all after bout 15 mins of plugging in (was manufactured in 1994) I suspect the

Make sure that the program controller is working if not check power - step down supply, the pads are responding- if not faulty pads- or the door switches, if the switch contact are not good then it will not trigger the processor to switch on the waveguides. If the lights or fan work without any display or action of program being triggered to start then it can be a possible fault on the main board or the processor. Sometimes insect secretion can short the board and display panel and so the processor can work in such an erratic manner. If so clean, solder and reset the board. Now identify the parts by clicking this link: http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/microwave/a/5/141/identifying-microwave-parts.html If there is no heating please do not switch on unless you have confirmed the fault. It is possible that the Magnetron is faulty, the temperature cut off is faulty or the main capacitor is short. It is also quite possible that insect can get into the oven and create soft spots. When you switch on these will create a short and make the voltage jump and in the long run damage the magnetron. Check this link to know how a microwave works: http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/microwave/a/5/1443/how-a-microwave-oven-works.html So Remove cover after disconnecting , check for dirt/moisture in the cabin, if so wipe clean and dry, check the magnetron and area clean and use an jet air to clean off. Check the wave guide covers, if food had deposited then it must be checked or replaced. See link: http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/microwave/a/5/1146/how-to-replace-a-microwave-guide-cover.html Now keeping clear of the microwave, switch on; use a cup of water inside to test. If you notice any sparks shut off as the magnetron or the main HT capacitor can be faulty. replace with same type. If there is heating without any issues, you can use the microwave safely

Microwave model number mh1160xsb. It will only turn on for 15 seconds at a time what could be wrong with it

There is a thermal fuse that sometimes becomes defective or the magnetron is getting to hot causing a shut down, exhaust fan may not be running which cools the magnetron, should be checked.

Our Whirlpool over the range microwave makes a clicking sound for a few seconds then shuts the microwave off. The microwave is unusable. The sound seems to be coming from the control panel.

If the cooling fan is not working, that would explain the shutdown problem. The function of the fan is to cool the magnetron down when it is warming or cooking the food, if the fan fails to run, the thermal fuse will detect heat rise causing a shutdown with in 5 seconds or more, the clicking suggest fan issues. I would recommend a whirlpool technician to go through the system.

Whirlpool otr microwave

Once i opened up the microwave, I found that some kind of capacitor or something (had two wires going to it) had fell down on top of the fan. I had to rig the plastic mounting bracket and re-attach it to a panel inside. That took care of the rubbing noise. It turned out that some one had unplugged the wire that powered the turntable. That took care of that. it seems to work fine now. Steve

I have a nice PDF version of the technical sheet from a model MH1150, which should be similar. It's here:
http://www.microwavedisplay.com/whirlpool_mh1150xmq-0_wiring.pdf

Looking at that, I would say the fan relay "on/off" is stuck.
