My ALIEN AREA 51 7500 R5 WILL NOT POWER UP

Step 1: Make sure it's plugged in. (Don't laugh please, you'd be surprised).

Step 2: Make sure you turned it on. (Repeat of Step 1 comment goes here).

Step 3: Beg, borrow or buy a replacement power supply and test using it.

Step 4: Disconnect everything from the system board except the RAM, the CPU (and fan), the power supply and the video card. Test. If it works, add one thing back at a time until it stops working...you found the problem.

Step 5: If disconnecting all but the core components still fails, remove the RAM, reinsert one at a time and test each independently.

Step 6: If that doesn't work, take it to a qualified technician as it's probably the mainboard, or CPU.

Alienware area 51 card reader not recognizing 64gb exfat sd card

I would check you have all the latest updates for your Vista installation as I know for some versions of Windows extra updates are necessary for exfat support.

Does the SD card read; is it accessible; in other devices?

Sound on alienware m5500i-r3

If you think it's a software problem, head over to the alienware website, and download the audio drivers.
http://support.alienware.com/Support_Pages/Restricted_Pages/driver_downloads.aspx

If the drivers are up to date, you want to go to Control Panel>Sound and make sure that the active device shows the name of your soundcard. For instance, my sound card is a Sound Blaster Recon3Di so it shows:

Speakers
Sound Blaster Recon3Di

I have an Alienware m5790 laptop. I want to upgrade the motherboard/video card (combined, thanks Alienware) but I don't know what I should use. Anybody have any suggestions?

Generally, laptops motherboard/video cards are upgraded by replacing the system. The motherboard for that system is proprietary to Alienware and a 3rd party MB will not work. From what I can find so far, Alienware only had 1 MB for that system.
