Question about Car Audio & Video

I have a 01' Range Rover with navigation. I believe the amp which is a Harman Kardon style # XQK 100340 may be bad, however I really don't want to replace this amp without knowing for sure if this is the problem. Can my amp be tested?

I have power. The radio display indicates what channel it is on. I've replaced the subwoofer and when the radio is turned on there are popping sounds coming out of the speakers. That is all.

Is there a shop in my area that will service the amp and check it out? So far I have had no success.

As it can be checked but requires meter to check the rreadings.
and between 5v --12v motor working through battery to test the amp.
but taking it to the shop is much better as they will have all the required instruments to check the ampere.
thanks.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

My factory car amp does not allow the front door speakers to play highs can I connect those two speakers directly to the head unit connection and have the rest of the door speakers run through the amp ?

That will not work. The reason is frequency response. There are high and low pass filters installed on speaker systems. The reason is that no one speaker can handle all sound ranges. The other thing is that high range speakers are not high wattage speakers because they don't have to be. If you hook the high range to the straight feed from the amp, you will blow them out really fast.

I have a 'Eurovox' car radio/cassette with 'Land Rover' on the front, but the two plugs do not match up with my Range Rover. So I would like to know how to, (after removing the plugs), wire it in. These...

If you leave the original plugs connected to the radio unit you will be able to get an adapter from a motor store. In the UK Halfords keep most types, in the US I don't know what similar stores you have but i would imagine Radio Shack or similar will keep the type you need. Take the radio unit with you so they can see the connectors on the unit - they will probablky be ISO fittings and then they will be able to advise the Range Rover fitting.

If they do not have a suitable adaptor, ask them to identifiy the connectors on the radio unit (DIN, ISO etc) and then ask your local Landrover/Range Rover dealer if they can supply an adaptor for you.

Hope this clears your problem, please mark the post as Fixya.

We are trying to install Harman-Kardon soundbar sb16-230 to our TV with no success. We have followed all the instructions and all the connections are correct - any advice???

Reread the instructions.. some of these systems have 1 item that can be missed and the entire system wont work. Im a bloke who knows... Connect up and if it works, great. If it doesn't, read the instructions Lol. Make sure you have power to the unit. If not sure, plug something (Vacuum cleaner etc) into the wall socket to confirm. make sure you haven't got the "input" and output terminals / connections back to front.

Just replaced the battery in my 97 range rover and the stereo says "CODE" how or where do i get the code, considering i bought it used and dont have it?

If it's the factory radio, go to your local Range Rover dealership
service center. They will probably charge it, there's just no other option. If it's an aftermarket unit, you would just need to find a local car audio shop that sells the brand. Hope this helps

I have a ca260 car amplifier, and wanted to know if it 1ohm stable

it is .5 ohm stable but will heat up in .5 ohm so make shure there is lots of ventilation at 1 ohm it will not heat up very much but will still need venting they really kick and control the speaker very well (no or little distortion ) even in low ohms you will need lots of current for them in single channel mode at 4 ohm its 120w 2 ohm its 240 and 1 ohm its 480 and .5 its just under a kilo watt at .5 you will need 40amps of current i have 6 of these amps as a system and i am upgrading to mcintosh amps as there are few amps better than the hk ca 260s you will love this amp
