Question about Sharp LC-42D43U 42 in. LCD HDTV

1 Answer

Poor Volume We have the same issue with our LC-42D43U. The volume is poor. I called the store that we purchased it with and they said top buy an Amp.The old TV had good volume, so it isn't a cable or receiver problem.

I found this on another site, tried it and it WORKED. It took a few swiches, but it worked.

I have a Sharp LC-46D43U LCD TV. I think this is a entry level for
large lcd tv's. With the volume all the way up at 60, my wife and I
could barley hear the tv. I was playing around in the menu and some how
have the volume at almost twice the volume. What I did was:

    Go into the menu

    Go to option

    Go to output select

and change from fixed to variable and back to fixed. You may have to do this a few times.

Sometimes the volume goes loud after 1 try and sometimes it may take 10 or 20 tries.

But if I change any settings, even the channel sometimes the sound goes back down to where it was.

Has anyone done this, did it work for you. I don't know very much about electronics and I have now ideal why this happens.

I wonder if this is just something with my tv.

This is a design problem, unfortunately unrepairable.

If the problem is same with different input devices and you have ensured there are no loose contacts in power outlet, RC jack, cable and sockets, the TV needs servicing.

Speakers had a buzzing/vibrating noise. had them replaced. still making same noise. happens on very low and loud volume. any idea what it could be? possibly the sound board?

maybe just poor speakers.....had a similar problem with an old sony. Replaced the speakers twice and always had a noticeable buzzing. Try running external speakers (computer speakers will work) at low volume to see if you hear it in those. If so, you may have sound board issue.

Why does my lg tv vibrate as i turn the volume up? to hear the tv it gets turned up to 40 and above on the volume control, it just vibrates when it's that high. there's no vibration at 20 or under, but you...

This is a inherent problem in the LG 7 series LCD. It is because of poor padding in between the speaker and the bezel along with a very thing back that causes the TV to vibrate at certain frequencies and volumes. LG is aware of this issue and has new speaker brackets and spaces that will fix the issue. You can contact them and explain your situation if they can send a service center out to fix the issue under warranty as it is less than a year old. If you cannot get it covered, it should still be a cheap repair as the parts should only cost around $20 and take less than one hour of labor for a technician familiar with the issue.

I have a tru tech 19" television/dvd/monitor, it is a peice of ****.... as a matter of fact, i have two just alike. the volume for some reason on the televisions will blast loudly for no reason at all,...

Sorry to bear bad news about your sets. I would avoid those sorts of brands in the future. TruTech is not in favor of supplying parts or service data on sets that are out of warranty. They don't want them fixed. I think the saying "Caveat Emptor" (Let the buyer beware) would apply here. They are cheap because they are cheaply made. (Made in China I suspect)

I think you have no chance of getting your money back because they are out of warranty. The defect is obviously do to poor design or poor manufacturing processes. Unfortunately I don't think you have any recourse with your dilemma.

Stick with brand names at reliable stores, there are lots of new names out there not all of them are good brands. I don't think any televisions at all are manufactured in USA anymore. Always check for reviews online before you buy.

Good luck in the future.
