Question about PC Laptops

1 Answer

Laptop I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop. Recently I went to turn it on, and nothing happened. When plugged in, it showes that it is plugged in (LCD), but when you push the power button, nothing happens. None of the other LEDs come on. No noise or activity to be heard. Its a desktop replacement class (17"screen, 2gb RAM, Centrino Duo). Could there be something internally wrong with the power button, or could the un-plugging and plugging back in ruined it? Is there a way it can be fixed? I even tryed power booting it, plugged and un-plugged. I get nothing. It is only about a year and a half old. I hope you can help me on this.

Not uncommon... the power switching chip that regulates standby and other power regulation to the board must be faulty or fried. Must replace motherboard.. Try removing battery.. sometimes batteries will short or try to draw too much power and put the chip on the fritz..

best wishes.

Laptop Toshiba Satellite A200 Model No. PSAF6A-02C01N fail boot

Try removing / swapping / reseating the memory.

Try booting with one stick only, if the top slot doesn't work, try booting the bottom slot. Try both sticks.

Let me know what happens.

My wife has a toshiba satellite L35-S2151 laptop. When she went to turn it on, the orange battery light flashes 8 times and nothing else happens. Any clue as to what is going on?

Try turning on the device with the power connected if it turns on, keep the power plugged in for the entire day. See if you will have the same problem without the power supply. If it still occurs without the power supply, you may have a bad battery, you can verify if you can get swap battery from a similar laptop.

No display, nothing on screen

Try to hit the Fn+F8 button at the same time 5 or 6 times. This is what is used to turn off your LCD to plug it to a projector or to use a different screen. If that does not work then try to find a desktop monitor and plug it into the 9-pin slot on your laptop. Again hit the FN+F8 buttons again, if the display shows up on the desktop screen then you know that something has burnt out your LCD screen on your laptop.

Toshiba L20 - screen appears dead?

Try to plug in an external monitor on laptop to check if there is a problem with your LCD.

Plug in the external monitor then boot the computer. If still nothing happens try removing the battery and the adapter, let it rest for a minute then plug in only the adapter and try to boot up with out the battery.

Hope this helps.

your toshiba laptop adapter may go wrong, testing by insert it into an other toshiba laptop, if the toshiba laptop battery is not charged, the adapter is the issue, or if you have a multimeter, you can connect the two electroprobe with the input and output port of the adapter,if the pointer does not move, unfortunately,u should change a new adapter

Try removing the battery and reinsertit.

Or perhaps the on/off button is damaged .... (any shocks recently ?! ) Or there could be a more serious hardware issue...go on toshiba site maybe u'll find some info there ....
