You have a factory amp in your vehicle so what you need to do is take out the uv8 and make sure the remote wire from the unit " blue and whit stripe " is connected to the remote wire of the car harness.
the way you have it now is the power antenna wire " solid blue " the is connected to the remote wire of the unit

I had the same problem - its because when you burn the disc, you don't use up all the recording time; and the read light on the player is so sensative that if there is any unused time, it will not accept the disc. So, make sure your recording time exceeds the disc space, and make sure the last song you burn is not your favorite because it will cut off midway through the song.
It sounds like you have a factory amp in the vehicle. Check behind the radio to see if you have the blue wire from the deck hooked up to anything. You probably do. So take the blue with white stripe wire coming from the deck and hook that up instead of the solid blue wire.
I got through to tech support. For problem of no audio from DVD or CD (can only hear radio), reverse the Blue wire (power antenna) and the Blue/White wire (external power amplifier). This should solve the problem.
The Laser Diode inside the UV8 that reads the DVD media is most likely set too weak for the amount of dust built up in over time. This dust block the laser optics and causes the player to not read DVD's. You will want to go get a bottle of air from Radio shack and blow the DVD player out. The reason it is reading CD's is that its laser diode may be set stronger and is able to break through the dust. There are two Laser Diodes, one for CD, and one for DVD. Good luck. www.PlaystationClinic.com
To change the region code on the UV8 you must have a dvd playing and 1. with the remote press setup 2. then enter 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. This gives you access to firmware menu. 3. arrow down to tools "system settings" (you should be able to use the touchscreen) enter on region a menu opens and select "0" to make it region free. You can also go down to the brake bypass menu here to to put in "off" mode so you can see movies while driving.
