Hi,
If you have use this menu earlier and have some knowledge then you can, But if you don't know much about it then i will not suggest you to do this because if some other thing changes its data then you have to face other problems along with previous one's too.So, this is the better way to contact any expert nearby to you.

Hope you will understand my saying.
Thanks.

Hey eel the picture on the tv is like a three d image and can't seem to fix the problem and well I think that it is to do with the projecting please help? But I've done all I can.

It sounds like it is probably a convergence problem. Is the second image a different color? Did it go out suddenly? If so you'll want to take it in for repairs because a component has croaked on you. This will require replacing parts and going through a tedious adjustment. If it is only slightly out there should be an adjustment in your menu. Good luck.

The tv image is showing in three colors....Almost ghost like but in three colors. I checked my connections and tried my blue ray player and the image is still messed up....I did press the magic focus...

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.
This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....
  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some photos of convergence problems.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the settings menu then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move RED and BLUE in all directions - up, down, left, and right. And you should be able to get the grid straight.

If you can't move them in all directions or cant move them far enough your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Note: If you TV has as flash focus or magic focus button only try pressing the button. If it fails to fix the convergence your need to fix it. See below for a fix

Picture Quality

Clean the lenses and mirror. - Carefully with no liquid, just a micro-fiber cloth. They can be accessed by removing the front screen.
There are items in the service menu that can tweak color drive and grey scale, but you can really mess up a TV if you do not know exactly what you are doing. You can also do a comprehensive convergence in the service menu.

Red ghosting on images that are not closeup

1. Power off -- let bulb cool.
2. Display - 5 - VOL+ - Power (in quick sequence) to display service menu.
3. Go into the user menu and set auto revision back to auto.
4. Put an image on the screen that shows the problem. I always found the edges of a 4:3 aspect ratio signal displayed the ghosting very well on my set.
5. Use 2 to scroll through the categories to find D GM TG
6. Use 1 to scroll through items in D GM TG to find V POS D
7. Write down current value.
9. Use 3 and 6 to change the value to minimize the ghosting. You should only need to move it up or down a value or two.
10. Press Mute - Enter to save the changes.
11. Power off and let the bulb cool.

Convergence on ym television.

sound like to me you still have partial convergence. Autoconvegence is based on values stored when the factory set it up. so what may be done is to converge the set in service mode. a manual process the takes some time. once the convergence is set usally you can store these. then autoconvergence will work. WARNING.. messing with service mode can and will cause worse problems. so i dont recomend it to a non technician
