Question about Mitsubishi CS-40503 TV

1 Answer

TV has no sound or picture

I have a cs-40503, had it for a year & it just recently lost video & there is no sound. The only noise it makes is a click when I try to turn it on. Now I recently had this problem before but it straightened itself out after a day or to and worked fine after that so I wasn't worried about it. But now I haven't had a tv for a while, and don't what to but a new one if I don't have to. Any ideas?

I select the input for "ANT A" or "ANT B" and I need to select the correct channel Channel "60" for my system. But when I select the channel All i get is "Snow" it does nothing. I can see any input connected to it, but I can not see anyhting from the Satellitte. Please help I can use the Manual and or to pick someone brain on this. Thanks.

Hi sletwin,
This symptom indicated of faulty CRT socket (picture tube socket). A few days or weeks time the symptom will remain and will not back to clear picture. Below is the sample picture of the socket where is connected to the picture tube.

You may replace it yourself if you have a little knowledge in soldering and disoldering technique. There are two wire soldered in this socket from the flyback, one is the screen and the other is the focus.
Try to buy from your local electronics supply, bring the actual sample because many types are available at the market.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.

CS-40503 takes about 10 minutes for the picture to appear once the set is turned on (sound comes on immediately)....when the picture does appear, it's dim for approx. 5 seconds then comes up to full...

IF THIS SET HAS PIP (PICTURE IN PICTURE) THAN I'D SAY THE PIP MODULE IS GOING BAD. YOU CAN REPLACE IT OR GET THE BYPASS PLUG FOR IT. IT JUST PLUGS IN.

Mitsubishi CS-40503

Just discovered last night that my set has the same problem, the TV is also about the same age. I can't find the manual but I was wondering if it might be fuse related, just don't know where that might be. I've had blown fuses before in circuits designed to protect the speakers so I thought this might be possible. I'm currently using my DVD/VCR which uses a surround sound system, to view TV with sound so I have to use VCR tuner.

I'm going to try to connect speakers to the audio out on back of the TV to see if it can drive external speakers.

40" cs-40503 Popping noise

Sounds like there is a lot of dust on the crt, itself. This will cause a high voltage "snap" which I think you are hearing. This sometimes happens when there has been a spill of water or other liquid that has run or dripped down on the crt. Usually is not a problem if you turn the power off, unplug the cord from the wall outlet, take off the cover, let it set for a while( just to make sure the Hi voltage has drained off), disconnect and ground the hi voltage lead to assure drain down, then clean the dust off of the crt. Follow the dust off with a damp rag and wipe off all of the remaining dust that you can. Let things dry for a half hour or so. Reassemble and see how it works. I have had several $10 tv's that this process has worked well on. Each one lasted several years at least.

CS- 40503 No Power

There is no external reset, and if the set is completely dead (not even a click when the power button is pressed) then there is probably an open main fuse or defective stand-by power supply. If the main fuse is blown then there is usually a heavy short in the main power supply, and either way the set should be looked at by someone with experience in Mitsubishi sets.
