Cribrat 1;

Please don't be offended but are you sure you are putting it on the right way. A lot of the mowers out today have guards that prevent the belt from coming off the pulleys if there is a foreign object caught up when they are being used. These guards are actually post that are fastened to the chassis of the mower. Troy built is a top name mower so I'm sure their design is reliable. Sorry I can't be more specific.

Does the tension on the belt seem adequate? Is there a tension adjustment. (an idler pulley with an adjustment)?

Hope this helps Good Luck Loring Please give me a rating Thks

I have a Craftsman 54" deck lawn tractor my mower belt keeps twisting causing it to fall off

There has to be somewhere along the line of the belt that is rubbing when it is engaged. Sometimes something on the coverings gets bent and causes friction on the belt and wears it down quickly.

The belt on the cutting deck on my NZT, 52 inch mower deck keeps breaking.

The belt may not be that good of quality. Or you have it to tight. Next time it break I would recommend spending a couple extra buck on an industrial grade belt.

My ride on mower is not cutting the grass as the belt keeps on breaking after doing one strip of the garden iv bought 3 new belts in the space of 4 days it seems to only wear in one side then stretch and...

Have the pulleys checked for worn bearings and improper alignment which can cause this to happen Also the cheaper belts do break when cutting wet grass. Example.... My John Deeres belt cost $75 for a new factory one. A generic Goodyear belt runs $15. Guess what happens when I cut wet grass witha Goodyear belt? Yes it flies off. The Deere belt will stay on for it is made with a protective rubberized coating incased in fabric. If you are using a inexspensive belt you will get a lot of grief from it

What is the main problem with mower not wanting to move forward or reverse?

if the engine is running, but the mower is not moving generally you have a problem such as:

1) the main drive belt between the engine and transmission has failed

2) the main drive belt is good, but the hydrostatic transmission has failed.

first issue can be resolved by about anyone with a good selection of tools, a twelve pack, and a couple warm sunny hours. second issue means you are going to get a new mower unless you have an expensive mower and it is worth spending 1500 dollars to get a new transmission for it.

My craftsman mower runs fine, but it wont cut. it seems like the blades are not turning fast enough to cut. is this a bad belt, or something else?

check for belt wear *(the edges of the belt look frayed or scrubbed down?) and also look at the belt tensioner for wobbly/loose pulleys.

With the engine off have someone move the engagement lever while you look underneath at the belt to see which pulley is taking up the belt slack so you can then determine if this pulley has any issues.

If this mower is fairly new it is probably just belt wear. New belts are typically 20-30 dollars to replace. Less any labor.

Good luck and be careful!
