This only happens sometimes: this phone works pretty well, then sometimes when I plug it into its charger then jiggle it, or when I take the battery out, or sometimes just 'randomly,' the phone rejects its battery: battery goes in, one long red blink, then white screen with a battery with a red line through it. My solution so far has been to take out and put in the battery a thousand times or until an hourglass shows up, or to bang it against something, but the suspense of when this is going to happen is just killing me, so I wanted to know if someone else had the same problem, and a better solution!
Yes, yes & yes!! It's driving me absolutely insane. This has been a problem so many times previously. Was doing it to me last night... phone complete died during the night & today I cannot get it to charge @ all today. I'm seriously contemplating chucking from my bedroom window, into my friends hot tub which is four doors down!! So frustrating... so right about the suspense comment!! I have no suggestions, but feel your pain!!! :(

try a secondary battery as well as a second charger (I believe the pearl uses micro USB, which is also used by bluetooth headsets, other phones, and pcs- you could even plug it into a pc with the cable to see if it charges)
If neither works, the phone is unfortunately dead. However if the battery works, bad battery. If the different charger works, bad charger
Try a different charger (like your car charger instead of your home charger) - make sure while it's plugged in - the display shows that the charger is charging it, blinking - or bars going up or down, or a thunderbolt on the display screen next to the battery power symbol etc
Once you know your charger is working, its probably easiest to find someone else with a BB and ask them if you can trade them batteries for a day to see if it's a bad battery. ( You can usually buy a battery for $5 on ebay, or up to $20 in a cell phone store)
All in all, trade someone for their battery, or their charger - if you dont wanna buy one at first. See if the problem follows your old battery etc..
And if neither solve your problem then its the BB itself. I have called in to the cell company before and let them know we have a BB that will not hold a charge no matter what battery or charger I use... and they usually replace it under warranty as long as its less than 12 months old, and the white squares in the battery compartment are still white.
There might be some problem with the charger or with the Battery, kindly remove the battery and check with other handheld if it is working fine then there is a problem with the charger and you need to walk into the service center.
It looks battery completly drained and dead (as It took so much time), the best way first to check "Circuit" status in Battery through Voltmeter (poles)..or another way go to any cell phone shop and give a trial with another batterty to check status of your unit.
are you using the charger that came with the BlackBerry?
cause sometimes that can make a difference.
otherwise you might just need to get a new charger.
and usually the wall chargers work the best.
i had a BlackBerry Pearl 8100 and the same thing happened to mine.
Been searching for ages for a clever solution ... wow, banging on the desk worked, thanks v much! Trouble is, I banged my phone with the battery inserted, and although it now works, I've lost my photos. Think I should've banged the battery alone?
