How do you remove a car stereo system. I have a 2002 Ford Courier and the stereo is one that has a small hole on each corner. I assume these have something to do with it?

Yes.. you can pick up Din removal tools. usually $5 and you get two in teh set.. slid them into the holes until you feel them latch then pull.. now just unplug the wires from the back and your stereo is removed.. very simple.

My 2002 ford courier heater wont blow hot air the blower is fine but no heat oil an wayer levels are fine good engine just no heat anyone help please and thanks

Hello. This is a common problem on fiesta's and KA's so I presume it could be the same on the courier. There is a valve which 2 pipes goes in and 2 come out behind. The vave is stuck shut! They are right next to each other and about 1 inch wide. If you look at the bulkhead you will see these 2 pipes and they lead into the valve inbetween the wipers. Two clips hold the pipe on and two other clips behind the valve. These will have to be removed and the valve taken off. You will loose a small amount of water when removing the pipes. Just make sure the engine is cold so you don't scold yourself. The valve is quite cheap approx £30 and will take about 30 mins to do

A pair of extractors are required (available from Ebay , etc ) but these can be made from 2 pieces of bent, wire coat-hanger or 4 small drills(using the blunt end) or 4 small Allen Keys
or 4 small screwdrivers or 4 nails or even 4 darts.

An assistant is useful to pull the radio out whilst you are releasing the 4
securing clips

note: on some radios , these 4 holes are protected by 4 small screws. These
can be unscrewed using the appropriate size of Allen key

How do you remove a stereo from a mercury topaz 92'

Go to a bad neighborhood and leave the windows down. Assuming any of the car is left when you get back, the stereo should be gone. Actually, there should be four small screws in the front panel.

How do you remove a factory stereo from a 2008 ford explorer?

I'm not familiar with that exact model/year but for years ford has had the same setup. To remove the radio requires a special tool that you can purchase from an auto parts store for about $5. There should be a small hole in each corner of the radio, the tool slides into the holes and you'll hear a click letting you know it's in there correctly. Then you pull the tools outward and towards you at the same time and the radio will slide right out. Then it's a matter of unplugging a few connections on the back. To reinstall the radio slides right back in.

FYI- The tools look like two pieces of coat hanger bent into a U.

Assuming it's a Ford radio, you'll see 4 small holes on the radio front panel, 2 on each side. A pair of "U" shaped tools (buy them at almost any parts store) go into these holes, then pry outward to release the radio. I've made the tools myself by bending some stiff wire (a coat hanger works).

Security Code for Protect mode

Turn on the car so the radio is flashing "Protect." Look on the front / removable face of the stereo. On it you will find a small round hole - that's a reset button. Find a small paper clip, unfold the clip and stick it gently into the hole. The "Protect" will stop flashing, and Kenwood will be displayed. Unfortunately all your settings/presets will be gone, but at least the stereo is working again!
