Hey joseph, actually replacing the optical Block is not necessary at all, all you need to do is get into the "Service Mode" of the Tv and change a few setting around, did it a few weeks ago and now my TV looks perfect, no reason to waster $1200 as sony is trying to get over on all us consumers.

Bad optical block, had the same problem with mine. Sony Service Tech told me it was the technology and that it was happening to his 50inch xbr set. Wanted like a $1200 to replace optical block. I decided to give it to my sister since it wasn't all that bad then and put that $1200 toward a new set. So the solution would be to replace you Optical Block within the TV also while you replace the block you should replace the lamp as well start off with a new lamp from the get go.

Ghosting or a 3D image. A yellow and blue ghosting or shadowing image. Looks much like the top picture in the "picture ghosting image" entry. Is this a convergence problem?

Your convergence has failed and needs to be repaired. Once quick test is to goto your convergence menu and see if you can adjust red and blue. If not its has failed and needs to be fixed. You can call in a repair shop or you can get the parts and instructions from www.TvRepairKits.com and do the repair yourself. Its a fairly easy DIY fix.

Ghosting on hdmi channel on my sony bravia

With HDMI there should be no ghosting. And being a Sony Bravia it should be no ghosting. My 52" Sony is great.
You've got connection issues.

Recalibration is what is needed, you're going to need to recalibrate the 'GUNS's if you do not know how to do it yourself I would recommend you calling a support tech.

Convergance issue on one AV input only

This is not a convergence problem in the traditional sense as it would effect all inputs not just one. I would be looking at the video switching IC as the defective part. I'll look up your model to try to get you more details. Are you going to attempt the repair yourself?

Thanks,
Dan
