Question about Whirlpool LEQ8000JQ Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Dryer not drying clothes.

Hi My roomates and i just got a new dryer and got it hooked up by a friend in our new apt.! It's an old dryer. Not sure how old but it's a whirlpool ultimate care heavy duty super capacity plus and it won't dry clothes. It's taking 4 to 5 times to dry a load if that. The metal vent in the back is hot, but there isn't really any hot air in the dryer when i open it. Can anyone please help. I'm not sure if it is the connections here at the apt. or if I need a new part to fix it. Thanks!

Examine all the ducts in the dryer, and the fan and fan housing for lint. Lint buildup stops the air exiting the dryer
cant get out
cant get in
no air
no dry
surprising how much lint you can get out of a dryer

UNPLUG
Dryer not drying clothes. - 71fdf37.jpg8010907.jpg after clearing all the lint,
examine devices::
thermal fuses, thermostats and the heater element for conductivity.
remove 1 wire from each to isolate from the circuit, test with ohmmeter or battery and bulb, replace wire
when cold all devices in the heater circuit should conduct

when cold a small device in the motor circuit that looks the same as all the other devices, a cool down thermostat does NOT conduct

My dryer turns on and spins and everything but it has no heat to it. Whats wrong with it.

don't know if you fixed your dryer problem yet.if it worked fine at your old place and now you're having problems at the new house how did you vent the dryer outside?if you hooked your dryer onto a vent line that was there the line could be blocked with lint and popped either the thermal fuse or the high linit thermostat or it's just coincidence that you have a problem right after the move.if you still need help with this let me know and i'll be happy to help you,if you open the door and look around the opening you'll see a tag with the model number,if you send this i can look up your dryer to see what parts are in it.thanks

DOES'NT GET HOT ENOUH TO DRY MY CLOITHES

Always clean filters, if your hose goes up, check for stopped up vent hose (in the attic, happens alot in apts. ). If you have a neighbor behind you who is attached to the same vent going out and you leave your clothes in the dryer and they are dry. His dryer running will make your clothes damp. Have had all of these problems.

My dryer does not dry my clothes on any setting, they stay wet and the dryer seems to heat up but the moisture seems to just stay in the dryer. Nothing is getting dried and its frustrating, we made sure...

Hi,

If your dryer is not drying like it once did or if you just have nottaken the time to give yourself a clean dryer in a long time then youneed to do that. At least once a year the dryer cleaning should takeplace. Lint build up in the dryer duct is one of the main causesfor your dryer to fail.

Our dryer stopped heating up and will not dry clothes

tif it is most likley the element has gone bad they usually cost about 45 dollars and if you can find a friend to help you replace it its not that hard best bet is to call a used appliance store they usually have them new and in stock do not try going to the manufacture they will charge you double for the same exact part

Clothes won't dry

Check the following to address this issue.

Note: Normal drying time for a dryer is about 45 minutes (some may take up to an hour).

1. Venting
Make sure the dryer vent hose, as well as the rest of the vent duct, is not clogged.

Unless regular maintenance is performed, chances are there is a lot of lint accumulated inside the dryer. This might affect the drying time and could be a fire hazard. Make sure to have your dryer cleaned regularly. Because this might involve taking most of the dryer apart, it is recommended to have a qualified appliance repairman perform this task.

2. Thermostat
There are a couple of cycling thermostats inside the dryer. If one of them breaks down, it might affect the dryer's performance. Replace the defective thermostat.

3. Heating element
A heating element might only be partially burned out, in which case it would still work but will take longer time to dry the clothes. Replace the element if found defective.

Maytag gas dryer runs, doesn't dry

Check in the hole where the screen goes for blockage. Many times debries falls in there when removing screen. It cant make it out of the vent so it builds up and clogs the vent.
