  • The USB mode uses a file transfer class called the MSC (Mass Storage Class). This was developed as a way for files to be transferred onto an external drive such as a flash drive or an external hard drive. In this mode, your mp3 player will look and function like an external hard drive in that it will appear in My Computer as a separate drive.
  • This transfer class is not very specific to the transfer of media files so the MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) was introduced. The difference with media files, specifically music files, is that they demand much more management. Downloading services can require special licensing and a limit on the number of playbacks a music file can have. The acquisition, restoration, updating, and backing up of these licenses as well as compatibility issues with file type and compression ratio within these digital music players demanded a more user-friendly and functional approach to file transfers.
  • For this reason, you will need to have Windows Media Player 10 or 11 available on your computer to utilize MTP. Those who have Windows Media Player 9 on their Windows 98 SE, Windows Millennium Edition, and Windows 2000 operating system will need to update using our Download Center. We recommend the use of MTP over MSC (the USB mode on your player) because it is more specific to the transfer of music files. To change this setting, press the button on the top of your player marked M

Not enough space for music db. Please free 6 MB.

If you have formatted there is no music on the player. You will have to re-sync any the music. Set the USB mode to MTP, then Use Windows Media Player 10 or higher to sync player.

Why does it say error when i put on song onto my gpx mp3 player?

    sEVERAL POSSIBILITIES:
    * You downloaded protected music on your Windows 98/98SE, Windows 2000, Windows XP computer using Windows Media Player 9. Music was purchased online or the music was ripped form your own audio CD with Copyright Protection turned ON.
o You must use Windows XP and Windows Media Player 10 for online purchased songs.
o You must turn OFF Copy Protection on your Windows Media Player 9 before ripping your audio CDs into WMA files
    * You downloaded protected music to your MP3 player using your Windows XP computer and Windows Media Player 10 with your player in USB mode. Music was downloaded from the internet, purchased or subscribed, or it was ripped from your own audio CD with Copyright protection turned ON.
o You have to use your MW3836 in MTP mode.

    GPX MP3 player

on the top right of you mp3 there is a button that says M.
Try holding it then plugging it back into you computer.
O.K ill try to make this easy now, do that when its off because when it says mtp on mine i can put songs on it but idk why yours is not working so try what i said on top and good luck, because if it says usb that means you share stuff but when it says mtp that means you put on music.

    Weird

I looked inside, and to my surprise (having opened other MP3 Players) there was a small watch battery that obviously powers the saving of settings.
So in the next day or two I will be changing this battery to see if it does indeed power those setting for changing thing like:
MTP -> MSC (which on Auto goes straight to MTP)

    MP3 Transfer

Turn off the Mp3 off then plug it into the computer. If it doesn't work keep it on and try it that way.
