Re: I need a graphic card

Unfortunately you wont be able to upgrade to a graphics card, as only high end gaming laptops come with a seperate graphics card, most other laptops have only on board graphics,it may help if you install more memory then allow more graphics memory to be used, normally laptops only use 16mb - 32mb of graphic memory, which can be increased, although your on board graphics may not be good enough for modern gaming

Compaq Presario Coprocessor conflict

Sometimes , when a Computer's OS is upgraded, form the original OS, you will find "Unknown Devices" in Device Manager. "Coprocessor" is common. Usually it's the Card Reader, try installing the driver for the Card Reader, Windows 7 32 or 64bit what ever OS Windows 8 is. HP notebook screen

If you've tried a working lcd screen and you still get no display then your video card is bad. The hp dv2000 has the Nvidia Graphics Card (video card) that was a manufacturing defect and was put in many different manufacturer's models other than hp. It was a total nightmare and well documented all over the internet.

Your graphics card will have to be reflowed. You can do it yourself by taking the motherboard out then wrapping it in Aluninum foil leaving the Nvidia graphics chip exposed. Take a hair dryer (blow dryer) and with a sweeping and circular motion for about 1 minute go all over and around the graphics card applying HOT heat. Take a pencil with an erser on it and use the eraser end to push in the middle and all around the edges of the video card to reseat is securely. Repeat this for another time or two then remove the aluminum foil and let the board cool off. Insert it back and most likely your problem will be solved. I've done it many times and I use a really hot Shrink Wrap gun. It works 99% of the time.

Used this computer been turned off for a long time when I went to start it all lights came on but nothing appeared on screen pulled memory cards and hdd drive and battery reinstalled all and still nothing

If you have NVidia on your laptop therein lies the problem. NVidia made some faulty Video Graphic Drivers for your computer model that is well document all over the internet. There was actually a recall and extension of the manufacturers warranty on them but HP didn't notify all the consumers to save themselves some money in my humble opinion. If you didn't just happen to run across it on the internet then you would never know about it. Anyway your Video Graphics Driver which is on the motherboard needs to be reflowed. It requires disassembling the whole laptop to get to the motherboard. Get a quote from your local repair shops, then try these guys at: They will repair it and ship it back by Fedex or UPS and it will probably be cheaper than any quote you receive including the shipping.

I've had my Compaq Preario CQ80-410US for about 2 years now. There's been some issue with it overheating lately but I've been giving it breaks when it gets too hot. Last night I went to turn...

Sir as you describe the problem i don't think it has to do anything with overheating. Only this is open the LCD panel and check to make sure if the cable is connected to the LCD firmly, normally because we use the laptop a little rough the cable connecting to LCD from the motherboard normally get loose. And also do not forget that LCD replacement is also not ruled out here.

Toshiba a105-s4344

In both cases it sounds like it could be a graphics card problem. You could try to find the latest driver updates for your graphics card by searching the internet for the most suitable driver & / or updates. (When software is automatically (Microsoft/Windows/etc) updated from the internet, it may be of versions that are no longer compatible to you Hardware drivers)

Overheating could also cause the problem if you have an older Laptop, with the latest software.

Video cards

You Can,t really shuffle Graphics cards Around where Laptops Are Concerned.
the individual manufacturers, want you to buy thier Products Only. hence so many different Socet/Board types.
you,ve gotta grin And Bear What you,ve Got unfortunately, check in the Bios settings, how much of your system memory, is designated to running graphics, Can sometimes be allocated More. That you have the latest video drivers installed for your Graphics Card/Chip.
And that you have Sufficient Memory/RAM installed on the laptop.
Alternative, is to sell And Buy upgraded Machine, Alienware recommended.
