Re: how to get pay perview channels
No device would legally receive pay channels without a subscription...
The clear protective film on the DCP501 display must be removed and transferred to the inside back cover of your
DCP501 Home Theater System User Guide. The Unit Address and Serial Number found on the protective film is
required for activation of your DCP501 cable TV receiver by your cable TV service provider.

Not enough info to give you a definitive answer but satellite services are sold in varying blocks and to entice a customer to upgrade, all available channels are shown but not all accessible unless you choose to upgrade.
The lowest cost bundles offer a good balance of channels but (for example) league sports cost extra and are generally only included in the highest cost bundle.
As yet, it isn't possible to pick and choose individual channels at a small price increase, you have to take stuff you don't necessarily want in order to get the items for which you upgraded.
There are ways to cheat the system (special cards which retain access codes even after you cancel the upgrade) but dependent on the country in which you are located, the fines and even jail time are waiting for those who cheat.
The programming of the standard (smart) card is under the control of the satellite provider and they can remotely alter what you can access and even download changes made to the operating system they use.
Stealing cable signal is much easier but carries the same penalties once you are caught.
If you looked at the manuals for either product you would NEVER find a recommendation to use one amplifier's speaker input to drive the LINE LEVEL (very small) input on another amplifier. Speaker outputs are for driving speakers or amplifiers designed to accept speaker-level input (like some self-powered subwoofers). In no case is the power of the originating amplifer BOOSTING the power of the driven one.
You should do some reading on how amplifiers work before you blow something up and come asking for advice on how to resolve it.
To answer your question;
This unit puts out a 120watts rms per channel.
I don`t have the user manual but you can get the service manual HERE
It has all the specifications.
Have fun. Cheers
I can't provide specifics without the model number, but ingeneral, the amp section for the rear speaker could be defective or the output relay could be the problem. Without knowing the deisng, I can not say for sure. Typically, the units of that vintage, use ICs for the surround amps. Some use a single IC for both channels, some uise 1 per channel. If you can update this with the model number, I can get you more specifics and perhaps a repair cost estimate.
First - make sure it is not a defective cable by reversing the leads/colors on the inputs if problem then goes to the right channel then you know it is a bad cable/RCA, etc., connector. I would try that first.
Check to make sure the +/- speaker output wires aren't touching. I've had this problem before with frayed speaker wire strands poking out & intermittently shorting to the other polarity speaker output. This amazing receiver actually continued to play at low volume levels, but if I turned it up it would shut down similar to how you are reporting. I cleaned up the frayed wires & this fixed thr problem. Good luck
How this reciever is set up is there are left and right A and left and right B Only one 8 ohm speaker should be attached per outlet. if you exceed that your driving the channel at a much lower resistance then the units designed for and the channel will burn up.. Oh it might last a short time but bet your last dollar it will burn up the channel if you over load it.
