Question about Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-36FS120 36" TV

1 Answer

Displaying TV Channel Numbers clearly

My elderly father (98), eyesite is not so good now. He simply cannot see the TV channel number, displayed electronically in the upper right hand corner of his TV set (Sony), most of the time. Like I said it is his eyes, not the TV set....which is clear for the rest of us.
Is there any device I can purchase to assist him when viewing channel numbers?

Hello jdillion,

I do not believe that such a device exists, however I do have some options for you:

1) get a magnifying window to put in the corner where the number is to magnify that section for your father.

2) Have TV repair shop install a signal to voice converter to take the number generated signal and convert it to a voice so that way the changing of the channel will be heard as a voice as opposed to a number.

3) Have the number geometry changed by a TV repair shop with the ability to reprogram the EEPROM that controls the number generation circuit.

I hope these suggestions give you some idea of what is possible.

Thank you,

When tv is powered on tv only displaying channel number and sound -no raster. using video mode displays are ok. sound is also ok

Check and replace damaged component/s at its horizontal scan output section circuit. Check the LOT (Line Output Transformer) too for damage. Replace the horizontal scan output transistor. Check the input voltage to LOT. If the voltage is absent check the feeder resistor; if any. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Can't change the channels on my tv. The channel numbers aren't even coming up on the screen

Does that mean the buttons on the TV do not change the channels? Maybe the batteries are depleted in the remote, which would prevent the displaying of channel numbers;

The volume of sony wega kv-sw29m61 set always to maximum when it turned on

On your remote control (with tv off)
1. press Display, channel 5, Volume Up and then Power
this brings up the service mode (you will see some green text on your screen)
2. Press channel 2 to scroll through options until you see "Micro" in the upper left of your screen
(channel 2 cycles up through the options, channel 5 cycles down)
3. Press channel 1 to scroll through suboptions until you see "DIOF" appear under "Micro"
(channel 1 cycles up through the suboptions, channel 4 cycles down)
4. Press channel six until the default value (12:60) changes to 12:40
(channel 3 increases the value, channel 6 decreases the value)
5. Once the value has been changed to 12:40, press Muting and you should see red text in the upper right hand corner that says "Write"
6. Simply turn the power off and back on for the change to take effect. Your volume problems should now be fixed.

Channel display for Sony WEGA KV32FS100 will not turn off

Most all Sony models use the same programming for the remotes. Borrow a Sony remote and push the display to turn it off.

Sharp 32'' tv -no raster showing channel numbers only

since you have sound and display it's not the hivoltage. You're electron guns are not being turned on. Most likely the IC which biases the guns or the IC which contains the biasing resistors.
