I found the solution on a "solution" section right here! the range may be in the "lock" mode. Press the "clock" and the "bake and hold" buttons together for 3 seconds then release. You may have to repeat this if your display still says "lock".

I get the error code 5A6 on the digital display What do I do? Is there way to reset the display? Need I replace the display, the circuit board? If so, where is the the best place to purchase needed parts?...

Hello, welcome to FixYa.

Your range has somehow been set in "sabbath" mode ( for the Jewish calendar I think...not the band, lol ) If you have the owners manual refer to the section referring to this an it should instruct how to reverse the setting.

All ranges do it somewhat differently, so I can't say exactly how on yours. This example is generic, hopefully it works. If you are unsuccessful let me know and I'll see if I can locate it.

Hold Clock pad for 5 seconds to activate Sabbath mode. Hold Clock pad for 5 seconds to disable Sabbath mode.

Oven must be in BAKE mode before enabling SABBATH. "SAb" displays and flashes for 5 seconds. All pad inputs are disabled except for CANCEL and CLOCK pads.

This mode disables the normal 12 hour shutoff to allow operation of the bake mode for a maximum of 72 hours.

Good luck.

Thank you for choosing FixYa.

Your range is probably in the Sabbath mode. The error code shown on the display is"Sab", not "5ab" or "5A6.

To disable the Sabbath mode push and hold the Clock pad for 3 seconds

Getting error code on amana oven 5A6 or 5Ab what does it mean?

Your display is actually reading "SAB". This is an indication of a mode of operation rather than an error code. The following link explains:

Sabbath Mode is a feature that allows the consumer to disable certain features of the range in order to honor the sabbath. Usually this disables the oven, but allows the consumer to still use the surface burners. You cannot defeat it by unplugging the range or turning off the breaker either. You will either have to wait 72 hours for the mode to clear, or figure out how to turn it off.

Somewhere in the owner/operator's manual is a section that refers to "Sabbath Mode". Since all ranges differ in features and operator, you need to refer to the operation section of your owner's manual to find out how to shut the feature off.

If the model number you listed this question under is correct, you need to press and hold the CLOCK button for 3 seconds to clear the Sabbath Mode. "Sab" will flash for about 5 seconds, then return to normal display.

If you can't find this information, or no longer have an owner's manual, please post back and let me know. Please include your MODEL NUMBER ( if different from the one you posted this question under) when posting questions, so that we may be able to provide yo with better service. I hope this helps you.

I have a code on sceen 5a6 what dose that mean

What's probably being displayed is actually "Sab". This is an indication that the range is in "Sabbath Mode". This mode is set for those religions that honor the sabbath and disables the oven for about 72 hours. Unplugging the range will not clear this. It can sometimes be set accidentally following a power outage or inadvertently hitting the wrong button on the control panel.

If the model number you have this listed under is correct, you can cancel Sabbath Mode by pressing and holding the "CLOCK" button on the control panel for 5 seconds. If you refer to your Owner's Manual the instructions are listed under the Oven features section.

If you do not have a manual, you can go to and download one for FREE.

If you have any questions, please let me know. If the model number is incorrect, please post back with the correct model number so that I may provide you with better assistance. I hope you find this information helpful.

Amana Range, AER5515QAW

could be a bad bake element, bad temperature sensor, or control board problem

what does the oven readout display for temperature? if the readout agrees with the actual oven temperature ... it is probably the element

if the oven readout displays a much higher temperature it may be the temperature sensor (the probe in the oven cavity) or the control board

the temperature sensor can be tested by measuring its resistance with power off and unplugged from the control board, should be about 1100 ohms at 75F

If the sensor is good, then it is probably the control board ... in which case we can repair it for you at
