Question about Malibu ML600TW - Low Voltage Power Pack - 600 Watt - With Timer and Ground

Malibu landscape transformer

The timer won't work. I can manually turn on/off lights. Are there simple checks I need to do before replacing the tranformer?

The unit does not keep time. I can only turn it on and off manually. Brand new - it never worked. I am taking it back to the store. Originally, I thought I simply could not locate the timer on/off switch.

I have two different Malibu timers that will not switch the lights on. If I remove the pegs, the timer works fine. However, whent he on/off pegs are installed, the timer stops at teh peg and will notturn the unit on.

I have a ML88T that has this problem. I've removed the timer face and found that the gear linking the motor gear to the timer gear is worn enough as to no longer engage with the motor gear.

Too bad I have not found this gear to be available. As long as the motor is not burned out, this little gear would solve the problem.

While wiggling my light bulb to see if it would come on, all the lights in the malibu system went out. Power appears to be going to tranformer

If it is keeping time try moving the stops. If it is not keeping time the motor is probably burned out. These transformers don't have a lot of serviceable parts to them.

Ge smart timer-won't work after I changed off/time-no voltage to light

Hello Terry. Which GE digital timer do you have?
Copy following link to identify timer, and download manual.

Reset timer using reset button.
If timer has no voltage, then check outlet.
Check circuit breaker.
Check that light bulb is good.
If timer is plug-in type, then test outlet with circuit analyzer. Try timer in different outlet with different light.
Re-post question with timer model number, and things you have tried so far.

Intermatic TN111 24-Hr. timer clock not turning

Make sure lamp is turned ON, and that light bulb is good.
Rotate manual override button on timer to check that light turns on-off.
Intermatic TN111 series timers have 1 year warranty against defects in workmanship.
If you are having problems with multiple failed timers, then use circuit analyzer to test outlet polarity and grounding. If that checks out, have electrician check how clean the electrical lines are.
Also important to note that timers are susceptible to power surge. Simple power outage can burn out timer when power resumes.

I returned from vacation last night and noticed all four of my coach lights were off. I thought...the timer needs to be reprogrammed due to a power outage while I was away. The red indicator light was...

1) You performed correct troubleshoot steps down the line.
Last thing would be to install defect timer on another light circuit in house, and see if problem is the timer or wire going to coach lights.

2) EJ351C has 1 year limited warranty.
Buy new EJ351c and install single pole light switch until timer replacement is available.
Timer has easy 2-wire installation. Turn off power. Connect new timer just like old one was connected. Either timer black wire connects to either wire in switch box.

I just replace a light (not bulb) in my Malibu low voltage lighting system. That new light did not work and now all of the rest of the lights past this point no longer work. But the lights between this...

Working with the bulbs can cause other bulbs to go out.
Malibu suggests turn power pack off when replacing bulbs.
Also connections get loose and need to be re-attached.

My automatic timer is not working.

You posted under Intermatic raintight timer.
Add a comment with your model and brand and I have extensive files on timers.

The best diagnostic is the manual override.
1) Click manual override and see if Load (lights, fan, motor) come on.
If manual override clicks on-and-off crisp and clean, but the lights do not come on, check your electric power.
If the manual override does not click crisp and clean, then the timer may be rusty, or timer may need to be replaced. Buy replacement timer and swap out timer mechanisms without changing the box.
If the manual override works fine, and Load turns on-and-off with manual override, then the clock or trippers are next suspect.

2) Check if the dial is turning as time passes.
If the dial is not turning, then the clock motor is bad and you can buy a new clock motor.
If dial is turning, and manual override turns Load on-and-off, then the tripper pins might be worn out, and you can buy new trippers.

3) To buy replacement parts: Timer door has model number of timer. Timer clock located on back of timer mechanism has identifying numbers. You can snap out the timer mechanism using metal spring locate top inside box.

My intermatic tranformer used for lv landscape lighting just died. Power is on but unit is dead. Do I just replace it? Is there a fuse blown?

Check the circuit breaker. Try to cycle it manually by turning either the timer wheel or the rotating the small timer pin. If you don't hear a hum and get no output, it is probably dead. You might be able to fix it, but they are not that expensive, so I wouldn't bother. In fact, I have two used ones I would like to sell because they are overkill now that I have put in a lot of LED lights.

Timer not working Malibu ML88T Power pack

there are multipul 12 timers on the market BUT if you use a 12 volt power pack designed for a car radio display or even a simple 12v 5 amp laptop power suply and a cheep outdoor timer or cheeper indoor timer and run wires inside you can add lights
remember theise lights are low voltage and if you change the bulbs out you can really strech out the amprage too
low amp led automotive bulbs are a great invention they draw mili amps and use 12 volts
i converted my noma moonrays to a laptop power supply and added 30 more to a single string so i curently have 50 lights on 1 power suply pulling aprox 4.5 amps out of a 5A power supply i used led bulbs and simple moma cord now i can light the whole back yard with 1 ps and it's really bright if i use the led headlamps mounted under the soffit on the house

I have the 600-water Malibu transformer. Some nights one of the loops of lights will go out. The other loop stays lit. I might go out 30 minutes later and both loops are lit. I am still well under the...

Check for a loose connection where the problem "loop" connects at the tranformer.
Also, swap the "loop" connections to the tranformer. If the problem still persists replace the wire run. Sometimes wire gets damaged internally and visual inspection will not reveal that.
If the problem occurs in the other loop after the swap, then you probably have a bad connection inside the transformer. If that is the case, you won't be able to use that connection as the transformer has no user servicable parts.
Also, if the tranformer in under 5 years old, it's still under warranty.

Malibu landscape transformer

I discovered that I hadn't turned the manual switch to off on the one that wasn't working properly.
Now they both work fine. The instructions that come with the Malibu Transformer is not easy to understand and it does not go into enough detail. There isn't a trouble shooting section which would help.
