I have a InFocus ScreenPlay 4805. It is normally hooked to an eMac desktop computer and works great. On occasion I have hooked it to a laptop and had a problem where the white/grey projects as red on the screen. I figured it had something to do with the adaptor I was using as when I hooked it back up to the desktop computer the color display was fine.
Well, this morning when I turned on the InFocus it is projecting the grey/white as red when hooked to the desktop computer. I have tried adjusting all the color settings, using the factory reset, and nothing seems make an impact. Any suggestions?

Re: Colors showing red on screen
Hi Stella, There is a button on the projector called "Auto Image" Most people don't realize it's even there. Press it while you are seeing this problem and most likely the projector will figure out the image issue and all will be well. Note: this feature is nowhere in the menu(s)

If your InFocus 4805 projector is having a hard time powering on or doesn't power on at all, it could be one of two things. Due to the extreme temperature of the lamp that causes the temperature of the projector to rise, every InFocus 4805 projector has a cooling system. Check your projector's cooling solution, as it may need to be replaced. Also check the projector's fan---if the fan doesn't spin, the unit will not turn on. If the problem is the fan, you'll have to get it replaced. You can do this at the same place you bought your projector.
If your InFocus 4805 Projector powers on but does not project any light, the lamp will need to be replaced. All projector lamps must be replaced at some point---how often usually depends on how much use the device gets. Simply order a replacement lamp, unscrew the old one and screw the new one in. The projector will then work like new.
If your InFocus 4805 projector powers on and is displaying images but the colors on the images appear warped or are not in the proper places, your "color wheel" will need to be replaced. The color wheel is a small device that essentially acts like a prism. Light is projected through it and it displays the appropriate colors on screen the way they appear in the original video source. Order a replacement color wheel that fits your model and use your instruction manual as a guide as you swap the old one out and put the new one in.
First: Check your connections. Some times people can have the cables connected the wrong way in the pj which makes the screen either all red or distored looking, etc.
If that doesn't work..
Then any thing that has horizontal or color lines, dots, or zig zags on the pj means something wrong with the mother board. This is something that you can not typically do on your own. The best way is to have an authorized in focus dealer work on it, even if its no longer under warranty you can find out great locations through their website or themselves for the people whom are used to fixing pj's otherwise you might run into other problem if some one is not experienced in pj work.
I've worked for a competitor to this brand in the past and that was always a huge sign that something internal was going on if it wasn't a connection error. 9 times out of 10 it was an internal error. I did have some one whom hooked up his component cables wrong which created a red/green image. Once he fixed that it was okay after that.
Let me know how things go. I wish you luck. Some times its hard to trouble shoot all the way through with out being there. Let me know how things work out.
