Grinder stopped working

My grinder stopped working 2 days ago. We buy nothing but beans so right now - no coffee!

  • semunky Jan 13, 2009

we have had this for less than 30 days-it was part of a slew of "gifts for each other bought together" that we got ourselves for christmas this year. The grinder stopped working this morning-very unfortunate when you have to get up at 5am and get to work by 6am. Both of us. I clean the coffeemaker and grinder parts every day, and today actually spent a bit of time trying to get it to work-used my once weekly late day 'allowance' for today since I ran behind while trying to figure out why weak coffee was in the pot. Nothing has worked. Looks like we'll be using our old coffee maker for a while until we get a replacement from the manufacturer. We only have beans-no ground coffee-and our seperate grinder for the espresso machine would require multiple grindings to make enough coffee grinds for a pot like we fix in the morning for our to-go cups. Unfortunate to say the least.

Use the bursh that came supplied with the coffeemaker to clean around the exterior of the motor area, underneath the grind basket. Make sure the chute is clean as well.

Can this be fixed??? my grinder stopped grinding ????

Try to remove all coffee beans first by hand, then s*ck all remaining with a vacum cleaner.
Undjust the grinder to more gross coffee.
Try to work back again the grinder. If it is working then adjust back again to your previus postion but remeber that you can go back again one step at the time so the grinded coffee wil not blocked the grinding plates.
Good luck

Cuisinart DGB-700BC grinds but no grounds in the basket.

Hi there, you have some kind of blockage, If the beans are going down, you need to remove the brewer unit and wash it, if the beans arent going down the exit of the grinder is blocked and needs to be removed, cleaned and replaced

Coffee maker

The beeping is typically caused by the grinder safety interlock. There is a small pin on the clear grinder cover that needs to be in place so that it is depressed into the safety switch when the cover is closed. The interlock switch prevents the grinder from working when the cover is open. Check to be sure that the pin in the grinder cover is not broken.

Cuisinart dgb-500 automatic grind & brew

You have not missed anything. Unplugging for longer than 16 minutes (has 15-minute memory) is the only troubleshooting you can perform. Call Cuisinart to find out if you are still in warranty. All electronics have a failure rate. Cuisinart's is acceptably low, but their coffee makers are the least reliable of all their products. The basic problem with electronic coffee makers is that coffee makers produce high heat, and high heat kills electronics and melts plastic. At least Cuisinart has a 3-year warranty - higher than the industry standard.

Let me put it another way. All coffee makers have a high failure rate. As many Cuisinart coffee makers that break down, the non-Grind-and-Brews still have a 91 rating from Consumer Reports. Consumer Reports doesn't give ANYTHING a 91 rating. A lot break, but you probably won't fare much better by switching to a different brand. The problem with a Cuisinart breaking down is that an expensive unit broke down - you wouldn't be upset if your $15 Mr. Coffee broke every year. The law of averages is on your side - a 2nd Cuisinart will probably last longer.

Cuisinart BGB-300

I just got mine to work. It seems that so much water condensation gets into the grinder that there was rust stopping the grinder from moving. Just remove all the parts, especially the blade and basket holder assembly. Take a pair of pliers and twist the grinder stem manually to loosen the rust. Turn it a good number of times and then test it out. I didn't want to use WD-40 on something my wife uses everyday. Good luck.
