Don't know how to set for receiving phone calls and faxes on my all in one
I have a Canon Super G3 all in one. I've read the manual but can't figure out how to set to receive phone calls and faxes. I use our local cable company for the telephone line. When I set to Fax/Tel I can't answer the phone. It rings on the machine but only briefly then I try to answer the call (I know it's not a fax) and the phone call doesn't come through. Can you help me please with detailed notes on settings. Thank you very much. Anne-Marie Freeman

You will need to select manual under the RX settings. Under fax settings. Rx means receive, Tx means transmit. The fax settings are under additional functios * on keyboard. Or you can put a switch in the phone line. When you tell it manual you will have to be there to receive a fax. In the fax settings there are several options on how and when you receive a fax. Ring settings forward settings things like this can customize your fax. You can set how many rings before it answers. Leave it on auto and set more rings so it won't answer until that many rings. Default is 2 or 3 rings. Give it 5 that will give you time to answer and you can still get faxes when your not there. Play around with it and figure out what works for you.
You have explained your question with very good detail
Press the colour button, then hang up.
Most faxes are capable of transmitting colour faxes, and you should press the colour because even if the sender sends a B&W Fax, it will Automatically receive it in B&W. If they send a colour fax and you hit the B&W Button, it will only receive in B&W.

You can't send a fax to more than one number at a time since each fax call needs to be placed separately. But the machine allows you to automate the process by storing the numbers in speed dial as a group, and then sequentially sending the same fax to each of those numbers for you. Full details are in chapter 6 of the manual (available here if you need a copy).
set the fax so you can hear dial tone... if no dial tone then check the fax line.... if fax line plugged in... plug it out of the fax and plug into a phone... if still no dial tone then change fax cable... if dial tone... then call your cell... if static... fax wont work call phone company... if you get a funny signal call phone company...
I think I know why. You need to set the proper priority of your all-in-one Canon device. If it is TEL priority, it means you need to have a phone connected to the fax. If the phone rings, you need to pick up the handset and check if it's a fax tone or a call. If it is fax tone, you wait for 5 secs til fax tone stops, and then hang up. After that you will receive the fax. Failure to pick up the handset will not allow you to receive the fax. This might be the most probable setting you have, hence you can't receive the fax. If it is FAX priority, the same thing happens as TEL priority. Only difference is if you don't pick up, and it is a fax, it will still receive. You can also do FAX only. No need to connect a phone. Device will receive automatically.
Cannot figure how to hook up Canon MP830 all in one fax with remote answering machine. I can plug in phone line to send faxes fine but when hooked up in same hole and the phone rings it goes immediately to fax and can't receive phone calls. Maybe i have phone line hooked up in wrong place on my machine. The answering machine is in our master bedroom on the other side of the house. With my last a canon also i had it hooked up to go to fax after a certain amount of rings and it worked fine. That machine got fried by lightening and i replaced it with this machine. If anyone knows what i am doing wrong i really need this fax hooked up all the time for my business.
