Could be that the laptop's encryption settings are wrong and it cannot perform the DHCP and thus may reverts to 169.x.x.x which is called "auto-IP"

Normally the ip assignment is when the DHCP server or NAT device doesn't assign an IP address and the PC automatically assigns the Private IP number that goes to no where.

Double left click on your Wireless connection if you use the Windows Zero configuration Utility, left click on properties, Double Left click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and make sure the top box has a dot in the Obtain IP Address Automatically and Obtain DNS Server Address automatically.

If these are OK, you may need to ethernet in to the router to see if the DHCP tables are full on your router. If all IP addresses have been pulled that the router can assign and they haven't expired yet, you may not be able to pull a new IP. This would only happen if someone has changed the number of IPs the router could assign out which i dont think so in your own case if the problem still continues then give the TCP/IP interface a new set of addresses. change the settings to "receive DHCP automatically", hope this helps.thanks and God bless do let me know if you need further help

for a initial info/solution try to reset your wireless router. you can see a small hole on either right or left area, a paper clip will do to reset the pin inside.

Internet Connection Problem on One Computer

By any chance, are you trying to use something other than Windows to manage the wireless adapter? If you are, remove it.

Now, Click on Start, right click on Network highlight properties, and click on manage network connections on the Tasks menu.
Your two options will be the icons for your LAN and Wireless Network. Is it enabled and without red or yellow marks? It could be disable, it could be not connected and you can't view wireless networks because the switch is off, or it may just nut see your unsecure network (unlikely).

If the above is clear, right click on the wireless and highlight Properties and left click so it brings up the Networking tab. Highlight IPv4 and click on Properties. Make sure the Obtain dots are ticked. That should work, since you are running unsecured.
If it already is, check the red X or if it isn't click OK and close down the box.

Now, back to where your Wireless card is showing, right click it and you have Disable, Connect/Disconnect, Status, Diagnose etc.

If you're still Disconnected but not Disabled, click on Connect/Disconnect. Does it show your wireless network?

By this time, it should. If it doesn't post back. The other possibility is that you take your computer to a wireless internet cafe, McDonalds, Panera Bread, or motel with WiFi and test it there.

Cant connect my laptop wirelessly...

Try to reconfigure your wireless network on your DI-524.

To access the configuration page of your router by Default type in on the address bar 192.168.0.1. On the login page by default the Username is admin and leave the Password blank.

If inside the the configuration page of the router

>Click Home
> Click on WIRELESS located on the left side and you will have the wireless setting of your network
> Change the wireless network name
> Under security choose either WEP or WPA -PSK for this type of router.
> Type in your new network key (also know as Passphrase of Key1).

For WEP use 0 to 9 Number or A to F character and it should be exactly 10 characters.
For WPA-PSK you can use alpha numeric from 0 to 9 and from A to Z. The minimun character would be 8.

> Click on apply
> Click on continue.
Try accessing your wireless network first using your wireless computer. If you are connected to your wireless network try connecting to the Internet.

Wireless shows connection, but will not connect.

This kind of problem occur due to dhcp disable in the wireless router for the security purpose. So try to give the ip adress manually by right clicking on the wireless and give the ip adress of the same range in which your network in working e.g 192.168.1.0 is the range of your ip addresses so please select the ip which is not been used by any other computer and than in default gateway enter the ip address of you wireless router and you will be able to access the internet on your system.

I had the same problem with this model. I was trying everything including resetting the Linksys to a factory default and loading latest firmware, nothing helped. I had to replace the Linksys to fix the problem. I think your radio on the Linksys is not working even you have a signal showing on your laptop.
