Question about Air Tools & Compressors

Hello Hi WV, Just realised that you were an Editor for a while. Don't know if you know about this site: Kind of like a freelance site where you can bid your services for projects posted. Just thought you may want to take a look at it:) Cheers! ID

Oh, there are a lot of other categories there besides web designing..they have editing work available, for example, if that is what you like..i dont mind you sharing this with Patrick..its not a secret after all:)

Oh, I know what it means "to shoot oneself in the foot", and I'm surprised Pat is still walking. He has done it so many times in the past, and continues to do so. Some people just never learn :)
He just like to inflame things it seems, although most times he has the best intentions at heart. Anyways, I dont see him becoming a Senator anytime soon :) As for why he got booted, I am as much in the dark as you. probably the fact that he got booted out in the first place. I had no idea he had actually come back, until Ekse told me, to be honest. But I did have an idea when I saw all his posts and his responses on Premiums..

Well glad you liked what you saw at elance, WV. I came across it years ago, but only recently started putting more effort into it, considering the way things are turning out at Fixya..anyways, a good source of income, I might add. Made more there in the past 2 weeks than I made in 8 months at Fixya! (of course, you can't compare the two, but still..its a better way to spend time than watch half an hours worth of effort go down the drain at Fixya to some BS one-liner.) Please pardon my language. I have always tried to look out for the best interests of Fixya, but now I feel, what for? (Just go through my older postings on the Lounge).. The people who actually try to put in their best simply get punished, and Fixya is not willing to stand by them, so why bother? These days i just hang around Fixya when i don't have a project to finish when at eLance..

Anyways, 'nuff said..Take care and all the best at eLance (if you decide to join) :)

Hmm..DarkLord1..don't think I've interacted with him thus far. I'm honored that you think of me as one of the 'great thinkers' should see me after I've downed a bottle of wine; I'm sure you'll change your mind in a hurry:)

As for Var-pun, I am not out to get anyone banned or such. I just happened to come across the anomaly and reported it. Since Fixya themselves don't care too much about policing their "Experts", I figure its left to the rest of us who actually give a damn to do something. Of course, at the end of the day its the powers that be that decide, but we do what we have to do. Like I said somewhere, you can't grow a garden without getting rid of the weeds, and at present Fixya is a veritable jungle!

I also do not think that he is a Fixya employee. It is just a simple matter to get one of their employees to be eligible for the Premiums, and the quality of his language doesn't support this fact either. No, he is just another chaps from the great subcontinent of India out for a quick buck. DOn't get me wrong, I have nothing against Indians, infact my great-grandfather on my mom's side was originally from India. I myself have worked in Bangalore for about 6 months as part of a training team from Logitech, and think they are a genuinely decent folk. Its just something about Fixya that seems to attract the dregs :) Must say a lot about the way things operate here..

Anyways, enough of my rambling..Got some work to finish on eLance ATM - got to make someone's resume..

Listen, if you need any help with eLance, or anything else for that matter, I'm just an email away!

Thanks, I will as I am not aware of that. WL2Y sent me his email address. I'm a bit uncomfortable in giving this out to just anyone. How do you feel about that?

Just looked at Looks interesting. Fortunately for me, the Realtor web site I built in '97 has javascript I created at the time that is still working just fine in the browsers, thankfully. I get nods from the Realtor all the time when I see them in town. I used javascript and the DOM to reference both IDs I had assigned to create variables and avoided XML entirely. XML was abused by MS in my mind by how they converted on save from a doc to web page.

My point is that I've walked away from Web Sites as here where I live, no one wanted to spend the money to do it right. Last nibble I had was last year and when I insisted on a significant down payment, then they balked. I don't intend to get burned on another web site ever again which happened to me over a self published book that didn't make the owner a million in the first month, despite of my insistence they understand it takes time, a good deal of tmie, for a web site to propagate and get noticed and then used. You understand, I'm sure. Besides that it was a bit of a scam on how to get your own patent. There was extensive use of public knowledge that was massaged to look as if the author created these methods that are in general use and published by the US Govt. Publishing Office.

I did give Elance a longer harder look and I am pleased to see what I saw. So, thanks for the link. I'll take advantage of it and yes it will probably make me some money in the future. Thanks again.

As to Patrick, he's going to run out of feet to shoot himself. You know, the expression here in the States, "to shoot yourself in the foot". It means to purposely stating something self-righteously and have it backfire when backfiring was clearly what the out come would be.

I don't believe I'll send him anything as I don't disclose my email address that easily. I get more mail as it is, then I care to receive and take the time to delete. I wish Patrick good luck, I was surprised he wore out his welcome so fast. I'd like to know what he did that got him the boot. Sure, he was the way he is in the threads, so what else is new? If must be something he said to a customer I guess and not an expert as he stated in the forum.

Oh, I'll join Elance. I'll take the same amount of time to read the contract as I would in the real world. And get familiar with the site's design and read the forum, etc. for quite some time before I make a move to join. I have to be ready to work on request should I hang my shingle out on that website.

I have found that if you continue to hammer away on the same complaint, put in a very political format, that action is eventually taken. I was astonished by Var Pun as an expert when six of his seven FixYas are not locked by a customer. From the reaction of staff to my points on this, I came to an ephiphany that this may be a staffer in disguise and the rating was artificially raised to get them into the experts realm of Premiums and Live Chats. I'm not sure if this is the case or not but appears that it just may be in that no action was taken or was going to be taken. Then this morning I get an email from Chen stating that they are aware that these unlocked ratings create an artificial position in FixYa and would be dealt with accordingly. Therefore, if it was used to get a staffer into our realm for research purposes or not, there are employees of FixYa with ratings that get them into the Experts realm and some of these that were created artificially are what we are seeing, not all of them of course, but there are some that have to be considered to be so. And this would not be a bad thing. It is FixYas response to our complaints that have to be taken into consideration under this theory.

BTW, had a few brief conversations with DarkLord1 when I Buddy Talked with him on using one of his tips in a post that he is tied up with a project right now and when that is done will be back on the boards here. It will be nice to see this Expert back. He as with you is one of the great thinkers we have here. Seems Toyota Ed may be one of those rare breeds also. Can't wait to toss about some more deep thinking here. Perhaps on the future of world politics 20 years from now. We'll see. But I thought I'd mention he hasn't gone away.

I have a 6HP 26gallon CH Model VT627102 compressor. The pump shaft seems to be bent. Is there anyway to replace the shaft or am I better off replacing the entire pump? Also, can I put a larger pump...

Hi gary sr...

You already know the answer sir...
You will be better of replacing the compressor its self...don't buy a total new machine, you could save yourself a few bucks by just replacing the compressor unit.
Go to and take a look at a replacement compressor unit, and then compare the price to a new compressor assembly...
I am sure you will buy the just compressor.

It sounds like you need to replace the run capacitor , if yours is weak or defective the motor will overheat. Check "Drillspot" for a replacement. Another major cause of overheating is due to a dirty air filter , you should check it first.

Lost my instruction book for my MaxAir compressor . Is there some place I can download one for free off the internet?

Here is a couple of links one is for MaxAir. The other to a site that might have the manual you need. I can't really check any where else without your model #.
I'm not even sure if this is the MaxAir compressor. This MaxAir site is for heavy duty commercial grade compressors.

Let me know if you can't find it and include the model # of your comp.
Hope this helps.
