No probably another capacitor in the sweep power supply, that feeds the b+ to the vertical IC. It will have the same beginning numbers that the caps will in the vertical circuit.

You need to check the DC output voltages on the power supply DC output connectors first.

Toshiba 24" TV Problem

Hi,

Neither adjustable nor the picture going bad.

But appears to be a minor problem,  chances are that a component in the vertical section of the TV is starting to fail.  If you would opt to check it out/fix yourself, most probably would be a capacitor very near the vertical IC, value would be something like 100uF/50V.  Though considered a simple job, this would require that you be familiar with electronic components & circuitry, a bit of soldering and use of a DVM.

Should you not be comfortable doing the above, perhaps your best bet would be to seek the services of a qualified tech.

Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Bad components in the horizontial/vertical output. High voltage (flyback), even a bad relay or weak component. These 'steady' failures are often thermal problems as some components fail, they work when cold, turn them on, they heat up, they fail, they cool off, they work. You can pinpoint with some cold spray. When it fails hit the chip or component you suspect with the spray, if it comes right back. Thats your circuit.

URGENT!!!!!

If you are familiar with tv service we can start by checking the relay itself for loose conections and while you are looking at the solder conections check for any other overheated areas in the board that might need resolder, handling a 36" tv is not easy and you will need help, you can put it face down on a piece of carpet big enough for the face of the picture tube then remove the back and the chassis will stay in place, sit it up like normal and turn it on,tap with a wooden or rubber handle in different areas of the chassis to see if it reacts while is on or the relay starts chattering, towards or in the the back of chassis is the high voltage transformer with a thick red wire coming out from the top to the back of the picture tube, this is the high voltage lead and you need to stay away from it.If the set reacts to the tapping be attentive of the area bacause is there where you need to look for anything loose, the other possibility is a bad relay and it will need to be replaced if you dont find anything loose. If you are not too familiar with tv service be safe and call for assistance from a servicer. Let Us know how it goes or if you need more information.

It is a pincushion problem. There is a bad cap and or a bad diode in the horzontal section.
