If you go here you will be able to download the latest version of itunes. http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ It will have all the necessary drivers for your ipod with it. I hope this helps you. (if you need to contact me for more advice please post a comment not a solution and then I will get your message).

How do i register my new ipod

Try connecting it to a computer. This is weird because the first thing it asked when turning it on, is for resgistration.
But use a computer, conenct it to iTunes (you must have iTunes in order to work). Once iTunes recognize it, if it isn't register it should recognize as simply iPod, once the iPod is register, then it should recognize it as "yourname's iPod". Good luck.

Cannot be found in the computer when connected. the usb cable is fine coz the charger works but the computer will not register the usb connection as a flash drive connection under my computer

First try switching to a different driver on your computer... if this is unsuccessful then there may be a problem with the iPod: try holding the "Menu" button and "Middle" button simultaneously until it asks you to connect to iTunes...

This should reset any user changes and allow you to communicate with iTunes...

when you plug in your device and open itunes it will say that you must restore in order to use with iTunes... click OK and continue with that process when you are all done you should be able to sync with iTunes normally :)

3rd gen ipod nano not showing up in itunes

I tried different computers and cords... I ended up opening iTunes without the iPod and going under Help/Run Diagnostics. I selected to run diagnostics on just the iPod, an error message came up and then it worked. I'm not sure HOW it worked, but it did.

My iPod doesn't show up on my computer!

try to log out of itunes, and set up your own account, log in each time you connect your ipod, your ipod has it's own serial number, and your computer tries to open up ipod 1 even when ipod 2 is being used.

Ipod

Usually it is done during installation of Itues when your player is first used. If you plug it into Itunes for the first time, it should pop up with the registration information.

Ipod wont show up on itunes

Okay, I had a similar problem with a 5th Gen 30GB, and I stumbled upon a solution that I have not seen anywhere else.
Basically, my iPod was mounting as a disk drive, but would not show up in iTunes. I reset it many times and ran the diagnostics (left and center upon Apple logo at startup). Nothing worked, and of course I couldn't restore it, because it wouldn't show up in iTunes. It did the same thing regardless of what PC or Mac it was plugged into -- it always mounted, but never showed up in iTunes.
Another odd observation was that it was mounting on my Mac desktop with the "external hard drive" icon, not with an iPod icon.
Here is what I did that fixed it:
1. Plugged it in to a Mac. 2. Opened a Terminal session 3. Browsed to the /Volumes/iPod/iPod_Control/ folder 4. Renamed the iTunes sub-folder to iTunes.backup 5. Ejected the iPod, then re-connected it
At this point, iTunes detected my iPod just fine! I went through the restore procedure as a precaution; because I have no idea what this directory really contains.
I realize that the circumstances surrounding my successful restore are somewhat unique, and probably don't apply to very many other situations, which is why I described some of the quirky things (like the icon showing up as an external hard drive) in detail at the beginning of this. Don't attempt it if you're not comfortable with what I described, or if your iPod has different symptoms!
