Re: would a neighbors linksys router interfere with my...
Do check the signal strength of the wireless connection..you can improve signal by removing any big objects between the compu and the router/access point and/or re positioning the router.also intervening walls will affect signal..the fact that you are getting a linksys signal impilies that your home network signal is weak..hope it helps!

You said that the router connected to the modem is acting like an access point. that means the DHCP server on that router must be disabled. The second router is connected to the first with the ethernet port. What you can do, you can enable the DHCP server on the first router and make the second router work as an access point. so that both the computers will be in the same IP address range. If they are already in the same IP address range then you can try to ping the second computer's IP address form the first computer. Click here for more info.
It appears that your neighbour has an unprotected wireless router setup for you (and anyone else) to connect into his router and get onto the Internet. You should suggest to him to secure his wireless router.
To connect into your own wireless router, you need to configure the wireless card with your router's wireless configuration settings, eg.the SSID and encryption settings. Check your router manual on how to configure the router or go to the Belkin WEB site to download this info.
You can also connect to the Internet by using a LAN cable and plug it into the Belkin router.
See if Belkin has a firewall setting in the routers control panel. You have to log on to the routers address to find out. In order to access a linksys control panel you have to put 192,168.1.1 in to internet explorers address bar. The user name by default is Admin and password is the password. Try doing a google search for the belkin log on address to use.
Basically if you do a connection test on the ps3 and it comes back as NAT3 then you will have problems. You need to forward some of the ports of your modem to get to NAT2. You will need to assign static ip addresses to your PS3s so that you can set up port forwarding You may have interference from a nearby cordless phone (keep these away from router), could be interference from neighbor, try changing channel you use on wireless router. Some people have reported success just by turning off SSID broadcast in the wireless router. PLAYSTATION®Network Guide
Apparently, your router is working at a frequency too close to your TV's incoming signal. You can try changing the channel (frequency) that your wireless operates on. Click this link for Linksys' troubleshooting wizard, which will show you how to do this. If this doesn't help, you might return your router for a different model (I only use belkin myself).
How do you connect your Linksys router to Belkin router? Do you connect your Linksys router to the Internet/WAN port of the Belkin?
If so, what is the Internet connection type set in your Belkin router? Is it dynamic?
If the Belkin router is set to dynamic IP and if it is obtaining an IP address from your Linksys router(you may check the status page of your Belkin router and look for IP address), then you may need to forward or set that IP address as the DMZ to your Linksys router. Make sure that XBOX is still configured as the DMZ host in your Belkin
hi there, have you tried to reset your wireless router so that the default settings are being used, then try reconfiguring it again for your Internet connection.. then try to connect wireless again ... sounds like your router may have lost its settings which happens for some firmware upgrades.....
