Every other line prints dark then light. And some lines appear wavy. If line 1 is dark, so is line 3,5,7,9, etc. And lines 2,4,6,8, etc. will be light. We use the printer almost every day to some degree. We have replaced ink cartridges. No change. We did deep cleaning and ran out a black ink cartridge. No change.
If the printer has been used exrensively then its probably the printhead that needs replacing.
The i70 printer uses a QY6-0046-000 Canon Printhead
Printheads are available from many sites on-line and thru PC World

Did the dark lines start after the change? If so, maybe the drum on one of the cartridges is damaged. (Since you mentioned dark, I'd suspect the black cartridge.) Try replacing cartridges.
If that doesn't fix it, you can send it in for repair if it's under warranty. If it's outside warranty, I'd probably just replace it, unless you want to learn a lot about the innards of a laser printer.

when the print-out shows lines or streaks on the back of the paper when printing single sidedly, this usually means that the fusing unit is dirty or broken. another possible broken part may be the photoconductor unit.
If the unit print lightly or not printing anything at all?
The most common causes for not printing ECGs is one of those:
1- Too little heat on the stylus
2- Insufficient stylus pressure on the paper
1- Using an insulated probe, such as a screwdriver, gently press the stylus onto the paper.
2- If a dark line appears on the paper, the problem is too little pressure, but if no dark line appears, the problem is not enough heat.
You should be able to see nozzle check, click it and follow the prompt.
Line patterns that corresponds to the colors of the ink cartridges
would be printed. If breaks on those patterns appears, continue with head cleaning. Try to do this about 3 times until
all patterns are complete.
