Question about Parsons QuickVerse 7 Essentials (fe11044) for PC

4 Answers

Cannot install Quickverse 7 version from year 2000 because of Microsoft DAO.

I'm not sure if this is the same version being used now, because it was purchased around the year 2000, but maybe this is a common problem. When I try to install Quickverse it says it cannot be installed because Microsoft DAO is currently running. What do I need to disable or do to install Quickverse when this situation arises?

Have Windows XP and also cannot install QuickVerse 7 Essentials. The program loads until one of the final steps when it's checking the configuration. Then a MicroSoft window pops up saying it has to close the window and sends an error report. The files appear to be on the ocmputer but when you open them, the pages are blank. I've tried installing it disabling the anti-virus and also in safe mode, but the results are the same. Any suggestions? Thanks

This is in regard to QuickVerse from around 2000, not the more recent QuickVerse 7 Essentials. I have tried to install with administrator privileges and in safe mode. All efforts end up with "setup has to close." It gives me the shell of the QuickVerse program in my Vista, but not the books (Bibles, etc). [I'm not sure what Caleb is referring to when he says "Microsoft DAO. problem." I don't think that has come up on my screen.]

Installing Quickverse 6 in Safe Mode works ok on XP Pro. I suspect we need to instal Quickverse before installing MS Office, if not installing in Safe Mode.

The Augurst 17 post above worked great for me!! Thanks so much! I like QV 7 the best even though I get the updates, all the way through 10 - but with the above instructions I can add the books from the later versions onto 7.

Install QuickVerse Essentials version 7 on WinXP w/sp3

Place the QuickVerse version 7 Essentials CD into optical drive & close tray. This begins the auto run / install process. (Please do not remove CD until right at the end!)

Installation menus appear. Accept the defaults and choose “Typical Installation” (85Mb)

Message box appears at the end of the installation: “QuickVerse installation has encountered a problem and needs to close” Choose “Don’t Send” The installation program exits.

Navigate to: Start Button / All Programs / Parsons / QuickVerse 7 / (from drop down list) find “QuickVerse 7.0” and right click on it. Select “Send To Desktop”

Click on the new QuickVerse 7.0 desktop icon to run the program.

Dialog Box appears, “The librarian datafile library.mdb not found etc…” Select “New” / "Open Book" dialog box appears click on “Close”

Now with QuickVerse 7.0 running go to File / Add Books. “Registration Guide – Introduction” box appears. Choose “Next” The path to the new collection to register should identify the optical drive (with the QuickVerse CD already inserted) Choose “Next”, “Next” and “Finish” ("Registering STEP Books" msg box appears)

Customize Option: select “No” (default) then “OK”

Go to File / Library management. “Library Management – Maintenance” box appears
The Left Hand (LH) pane shows:
Default Drive
QuickVerse Essentials

Highlight QV Essentials in the LH pane. The RH pane shows all the books present on the CD. I chose to install only the NRSV w/Apocrypha book. Drag and drop this book to the LH pane i.e. Default Drive.

“Transferring Book Files” msg box appears whilst the book is being copied from the CD to the hd.

Close the dialog, exit the program, remove the CD and you’re away…

Can I install Quickverse 7.0 on Windows 7?

Locate the setup file for QuickVerse. Right click on the file and choose 'Properties'. On the 'Compatability' tab, click the check box next to 'Run this program in compatibility mode for:' and choose 'Windows XP Service Pack 3'.

After QuickVerse is installed, you may have to perform the above steps for the application file as well.

Most likely you'd have to uninstal MS Office, as I think this is the program using Microsoft DAO. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then Quickverse will instal ok.
