Kennmore is freezing everything in the fridge side and it is turned down to 0

  • Anonymous Nov 10, 2008

I have a five year old Kenmore side by side refig./freezer model number

253.53612300. The freezer temperature is fine, but the refrigerator part freezes everything even when turned to 1. I was told I needed to replace the cold control (both switches) and that I should replace the PC board

because it may also go out soon. Is this correct?

    Thanks

    Chuck

Frigidaire Side by Side Fridge. FRS26H5DSB4, both controls are turned to 0 and still everything in fridge freezes. Have cleaned the coils and samething. Thanks,

The compressor run time isn't being controlled any more and either the sensor or the control itself will need replacement. You might have noticed that the compressor is running either continuously or at least too long.

Fridge is freezing everything!

There is a flap that directs the air from freezer to fridge. Sometimes this flap can stick Or the actuator that controls the flap can go out. Same with autodefrost timer which seems to give a lot of people trouble. Thermostat is at the top, uncirculated cold air sinks, food in the bottom of the fridge freezes.

My fridge in my fridge freezer keeps freezing everything in it.

If the fridge side is frozen you have a door seal issue.
If the freezer side is frozen you have a defrost component issue.
Your post was not clear as to which side is frozen.
