Motorola RAZR V3 Battery discharge

My cell phone discharges a freshly charged battery in about 3 hrs. I carry extra batteries to change when it goes dead.
I've changed batteries with another RAZR V3 phone. That phone works just fine, so it's not a battery problem. Given that the phone is supposed to have about 4 hrs of talk time, it seems that my phone doesn't go into standby mode.

Is there a fix?

Thanks,

Drew

TRY this :
You have the option of using Master Reset or Master Clear to reset settings, and remove information.

Master Reset resets all settings on device to factory default.

Master Clear resets all settings to factory default, plus clears all data from the device including: PIM data, Call History, Settings, etc.

To perform a Master Reset or Master Clear:

1.

Press Start.
2.
Scroll to and select System Tools.
3.
Scroll to and select either Master Reset or Master Clear.
4.
Press Yes when Alert appears.
5. Enter Master Code (normally 00000)

If this did not help then there is the problem phone hardware which draining the battery ....

I dont think there is any kind of hardware failure with the phone ... it could be some software which keeps running in the background tht drains the battery ... the best option i would suggest is flash the phone with the latest firmware and the issue will be resolved

It is most likely a internal issue in the phone, best served by a repair professional at motorola, hows your warranty? contact your dealer and complain about it, possibly get a replacement or send it in for repair, theres not much I would recommend .. can't really take the phone apart to correct the issue, I feel its best you contact your dealer.. a home fix might be to replace the mainboard of the phone but if you got warranty on your phone, then theres noting to worry about,.

Please try a reset of the phone to remove any kind of static.
if this does not work it could be a problem of the circuit board not charging the battery upto the mark

The battery doesn't work fine

If the cell phone battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out.Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles andwill lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% andgradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR Thebattery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the batterydrops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to anunacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced.

Before you change the battery:
  1. Charge the battery fully
  2. Discharge the battery fully
  3. Repeat steps 1 and 2
If the battery does not reset itself and start lasting longer then you do need to replace it.

Charge

hi your battery has created a memory because you didn't follow simple battery guidelines:

For a new phone with a new battery;

1)Use the phone the first time until the battery dies,
2)Do a full charge - 6-8hours for the first time
3)Use the phone until it dies the second time
4)recharge the battery for 3-5 hours

then your battery should be good, but now your battery needs to be changed, as it already has memory and can only be restored if completely discharged by a battery conditioner

Charge battery.

Normally you would use the usb charger supplied with the phone. If that does not work, then your battery may be completely discharged, and you will have to replace it.

Motorola razr battery problem

The only solution is to get a new battery. When you do, charge it completely when you first get it, then discharge it until it dies. This will maximize the life of the battery.
