Question about Insignia Digital-to-Analog Converter for Analog TVs

Converter Box Problem

I have a newer Analog Magnavox TV and a RCA Converter Box. When the Box is on, I can't receive NBC or CBS, no matter how I ajust the antenna, but if I put the Box on stand-by and use analog signal, I receive them fine. Could it still be an antenna problem?

ABC had the best reception with just the antenna but now with the converter box I can't get it at all? I can get other signels that weren't as strong. That doesn't make any sense. Does anybody no what to do?

I just hooked up my converter box and, while I get all the other stations just fine, I can't get CBS.

Also, when I videotape anything, it looks lousy.

I have the same problem. I can't get CBS with my digital converter box, but I can get it if I switch to analog signal. I thought that maybe CBS wasn't broadcasting in my area, like the person said below, but there are people I know who don't live that far from me that are receiving it. What could the problem be?

That just means that stations you can't pick up while the box is on are not broadcasting digital signals yet. Most will be after February.

Magnavox converter box. How can I tell if the box is the problem or the TV? I have no picture, but it isn't the picture tube.

I assume that you are attempting to use the Magnavox converter box to convert digital TV signals received by your antenna system into analog signals for use on an older analog (non-digital) TV set. If that is the case then your first step at troubleshooting the problem should be to view the Magnavox installation instructions to ensure that the converter, antenna, and TV are all properly connected.

I can no longer get nbc on my converter box

try doing a rescan of the channels, might also be new RF signal obstruction in the area, try re pointing your antenna a different angle, this helped me once when a weak channel was freezing often.

I can't see NBC with the digital conveter box

Is it only NBC? Or are the other over air channels (ABC, CBS, Fox) also not seen?

Are you going through a splitter with the incoming signal? if so, make sure the splitter frequency range is at least 5 to 1000 Mhz.

You should see the 'temporary lost signal' wording on the channel. Check all cable connections to make sure the cable to connector plug are tight and not loose.

CBS station is gone. Only shows instructions for converter box.

I live outside the Kansas City Missouri area. I was having problems receiving one station. I decided to raise my outside attenna to get better reception. In doing so, I totally lost reception on another station. I only moved it up about 6'. I had to move the attenna back down to get that station perfect again. I still cann't get the station I'm missing but I found out that moving the attenna up/down or side to side can make a huge difference. I live about 50 miles from the stations I receive. Good Luck.

I bought the magnavox and all my channels are

Check the converter box. Many have a volume setting that is usually set very low at the factory. On the remote control for the converter check to see if there are volume buttons. If so, change the converter box volume higher, to a level that makes the TV audio level "normal", then use the volume control on the TV for adjustment as you watch. If you set the volume on the converter box too high, you may get some distortion in the audio from your TV. So adjust the converter box to find the proper output from your TV without distortion.

Converter Box Problem

If you are receiving digital signal and channel is fuzzy, something wrong. Only Analog signal is fuzzy. With Digital it is great picture or nothing. For channel 6, check to see if they are broadcasting in digital yet. If they are not, this is why you are not getting a signal. If they are broadcasting in digital, then you need a stronger antenna.

If the converter box different from yhe television

No.

The converter box converts the digital signal to analog and feeds it to the TV.

The only reason for the box to be the same manufacturer is if you want to keep all your equipment the same make.

It does not matter who makes the box.
