Question about NAD C521 CD Player

1 Answer

C521 reads "no Cd" when cold and cd is inserted

But when the cd player is warm, after some 30 minutes, it reads ok. If I let the room cool down to say 68 degrees from 72 degrees, the player will not see the CD again. Many thanks for help.

That is what I am doing, keeping the temperature up to 72 degrees. However, even at 72 degrees, the player takes 30 or more minutes before it starts working properly, which should not be the case. I am wondering if there is an adjustment, or if a chip or other part might be temperature sensitive, such as U201? Any other thoughts?

    Thanks.

Yes, most electronic devices work at an optimum temperature, and if the temperature rises or falls below this, the circuitry could go out of spec.

If the temperature is too cold, you could try to warm up the back of the player with a hairdyrer for a few minutes. This generally does the trick..

Why does my CD player display "no disc"?

I had a similar problem with my DVD player. Cleaning the laser eye helped fix my problem. You can clean it manually if you are not afraid to remove the cover of the unit or you can try a cleaning disc. The eye can collect dust and prevent it from reading the ID sector of the music CD.

My NAD cd-player has locked it self! I cannot play the cd's or even open to take the cd out. What can I do? Marit

Mine does the same. Press eject and give the front of the draw a sharp tap.. the draw should then open.
Also when loading a disk give the draw a hard shove closed just as it is almost shut - seems to make the disk read ok.
I think both problems are related to a worn / slack tray drive belt... I just haven't been able to find a replacement.

Also, if it reads poorly, the lens on the laser could be dirty.

Take it to a tech . Try a local stereo store . They should know who's best. It's a quick easy job for a tech who knows what he's doing.

Happy new Years,

Player stuck in scan mode

Hi...

Unplug it from the wall...give it a couple minutes. Try playing a CD again (using manual controls) If that works , your remote might be the issue.

If you bought the thing new you paid good $$ for it.

It's worth having it looked at by a Pro.
