Long story short, it is not your fault. Your provider will blame you, TNT, will blame your provider, and both are wrong.
The most likely cause is HD TNT is not a "real" HD channel. It is probably an SD recording TNT is upscaling from SD to HD. This can occasional create a dirty HD signal being broadcasted. Some TVs have trouble decoding this signal and end up with pixelated images because the image has been pre-stretched to fix the format.
Temporary solution would be to change the resolution of you TV for just the TNT channel. Some TV will let you select a preferred mode for a channel. If you can do this, set it to 720p instead of 1080p or try 1080i for TNT to see if this improves the image.
Also make sure that only one tuner is altering the images you are receiving if you have a FIOS box. If it is processing the image image in any way (color correct, resolution, etc.) turn those features off and let the TV do it.
If you can first connect the Fios box via component and that will rectify the issue and still allow HD. HDMI is funny, if there is anykind of communication issues between the TV or the Fios box you see what happens. You might also call Samsung to see if there is ANY firmware/software updated for your TV specifically to fix such an issue with the Fios/Mortorola connection. If there isn't then the issue is the cable box since the TV works ok on HDMI with other devices.
Solved that problem by installing and over-the-air antenna and am in the process of firing my cable company. I will retain their internet service and go to a base package on satellite for the likes of my kids' favorite networks (Nick, Cartoon Net, Disney) and my Fox News Channel), but my programming options are already growing from 7 analog to 13 digital from off-air in recent months and another 2-5 different subchannels are likely in my market in the next 24-36 markets (for free). Your FIOS box is typically a Motorola Digital Cable Tuner. In order to record from the VCR your FISO will have control of the tuner, not the vcr. If your FIOS has two video outputs on it for video (av connections), one should be plugged into you tv set and the other should be plugged into the VCR input. Your cable tuner will have to be set for the channel you wish to record ahead of time while the VCR tuner has to be set to record the line input at whatever time you wish to record. If your FISO has one video output line (av connections), your VCR has to be set to channel 3 when you record (provided that is the channel your FISO box is set for when viewing TV over the coax cable) and you will have to attach the coaxial output from the FISO into the coax input of your VCR.
The only way around this is to get a splitter and split the coax line so that the FIOS is connected to the coax as it is now and the VCR is connected to a seperate line using the coax input, however using this configuration will prevent you from recording digital channels. If you have a cable ready VCR, it will probably only recognize channels up to 150.
If you really want to get it to record digital channels without the hassles find out if Verizon has a FISO box with DVR to it or connect a Tivo to your FISO. Tivo will tune the FSIO when it records and it's very user friendly to use.
