The noise like " like it wants to turn on" is an internal safety switch that tries to turn the tv back on.

What happens is that the TV main chip detects an internal fault (bad components, wrong voltage , short), and send the TV into a special diagnostic mode, where an internal switch keeps turning the set off to prevent further damage.

When this happen is said that the TV is in protect mode.

The clicking sound that you hear is the protection circuit switch that keeps turning the tv off.

Common causes for TV in protect mode are: horizontal deflection and convergence problems , power supply problems, and more.

From a user level point of you all you can do is unplugging power cord for a couple of hour, so to drain power completely.

If the problem was caused by electrostatic phoenomena, or the protection circuit was stuck because of a false bad feedback from one of the boards, this will reset and restart the tv.

If that does not work, then it means that there is a real problem, and the tV must be taken apart and tested by a qualified technician.

If you want to call a repairman you can use the phone number listed on the owner manual.

Tv switches off after 5 mins

There might be three or more reasons for this:
1) The sleep timer may be on causing the TV to turn off after a preset time.
2) If sleep timer is on and no signal from the remote is received for a preset time (Samsung: 15 minutes) the tv will turn itself off.
3) The TV may have been turned on automaticaly with "On Timer". If so, and no signal is received for a preset time (Samsung: 3 hours) the tv will turn itself off.
4) A fan is not working or a vent is blocked causing the TV to overheat and turn off.
For 1) thru 3), go to the "setup" menu and make sure "sleep timer" and "On Timer" are turned off.

Tv won't turn on

Although not a great solutin it does allow me to use my fairly new and expensive LCD TV. Heres what I do, UNPLUG THE TV FOR 20 -30 MINUTES, WHEN PLUGGED BACK IN YOU NEED TO VERY QUICKLY PUSH THE POWER BUTTON ON THE TV.
Let e know if this works fo you.
