Roomba Docking Station

We had a power outage for 4 hours last night. When the power came back on the lights on the docking station were blinking, then they went out. Now the Roomba will not charge. Do I need a new docking station?

my Roomba will not dock. I have tried several times to put the Roomba directly in front of the docking station and the Roomba acts like its not even there

Probably not, unless you just have to have the docking station. My roomba always had trouble mating with my docking station so I never used it. I just plugged it directly in to will using the AC adapter.

I had this problem with my docking station. I unplugged it and took the base apart by removing a few screws on its bottom.

I looked at the wire that connected the circuit board to the power supply and noticed that it was charred on its plastic connector.

I disconnected the wire from the circuit board. I broke the charred connector with a pair of pliers to expose the red and black wires. I soldered the wires to the prongs on the circuit board and put everything back together.

The station is now working properly.

I now have the docking station on a powerbar with a surge protector.

SOURCE: I unplugged the docking station and now does not work

I actually had the same issue with mine.. it was 6 years old and just stopped finding the docking station. Also wouldnt take a charge. So I just eliminated the docking station. The stations power cord will charge the unit. Hope this helps.

Why is there no green light or red docking showing it is charging?

Sometimes the contacts between the battery and the iRobot get corroded...you can try using a small piece of sandpaper to lightly scuff/clean the battery contacts. Once you put it back together, try the reset function mentioned previously.

If you're sure the battery contacts are clean and the battery really is charged, then there is faulty circuitry within the Roomba that would have to be repaired or replaced.

Confirm that the battery is inserted with the metal contacts down so they make contact with the spring terminals in the battery compartment.

Visually confirm that the metal contact plates on the battery pack, and the spring terminals in the battery compartment are clean and shiny. If not, wipe with a clean cloth or paper towel, its OK to use a little water or rubbing alcohol on the cloth, if needed, and then dry it.

Visually confirm that the metal contact plates on the Roomba, and the spring terminals on the docking station's home plate are clean and shiny. If not, wipe with a clean cloth or paper towel, its OK to use a little water or rubbing alcohol on the cloth, if needed, and then dry it.

If you have a volmeter, measure the voltage between the contacts on the battery pack If it isn't something in the neighborhood of 14 volts and is 11 volts or less, the battery isn't fully charged.

Reinstall the battery.

For the moment, please connect the power adapter directly to the Roomba rather than the docking station to eliminate one possible faultly connection.

If the battery wasn't fully charged, or you weren't able to test it, try to charge the Roomba and then retest the battery voltage if you can. If the battery voltage was higher immediately after charging, but didn't get to 14 volts, the charger is good, but battery needs to be replaced. If the battery voltage was unchanged after attempting to charge the Roomba, the charging circuitry may be faulty. If there was no light patterns when you tried to charge it, and it was plugged in to a good outlet, then the power adapter or charging circuitry is definitely bad.

If you have no voltmeter and you cleaned the contacts and tried to charge the Roomba and it works, use the Roomba and then recharge using the docking station and see if it was just dirty contacts or it won't charge through the docking station. If it didn't work, you'll need to figure out if its the battery, the charging circuitry in the Roomba, or the power adapter. If there are no lights when you try to charge the Roomba, then Either the power adapter or the Roomba power circuitry is defective, but without a voltmeter you can't find out which one, and there's no way to know if the battery is good or bad, but you know Roomba wasn't trying to charge it. If there are lights when you try to charge the Roomba, then at least you know the power adapter is good. Unfortunately, without being able to test something there's no way to distinguish between a charger that won't deliver a charge to the battery and a battery that won't accept a charge. If you want to take a guess then a bad battery is more common and less expensive to fix.

My roomba 530 cleans just great, but it will not return to the docking station--it just stops in the middle of the floor without any warning. I push the dock button, etc. to no avail.

I sometimes have the same problem with my Roomba 530 (named Ethel). Make sure the signal transmittor on the docking station and the signal receiver on the top of the Roomba are clean. You can use a cloth or paper towel with a SMALL amount of window cleaner to run around both of these signal devices. I also like to clean the metal contacts on the station and the corresponding contacts on the bottom of the Roomba at the same time. This won't make a difference for the docking but it just assures that the vacuum will charge efficiently. If this doesn't work, you might need to have the unit cleaned professionally unless you feel comfortable about taking the unit apart and cleaning it yourself. I did this and Ethel has worked fine ever since!
If this helps, please come back and rate my suggestion!

Roomba stopped after 45 minutes. does not move. manually placed on docking station...nothing

Sounds like something's dead either with the roomba or the charging station or power supply. Does it charge up if you plug the power supply directly into the roomba, instead of into the charging station? If not, you'll probably have to return it to the place you bought it.

The Charging circuit on the main board is dead. Either replace the main board or repair it if you have the skills and equipment.
