I have the delonghi retro fan heater. when i plug it in and turn the dial, the red light on top goes on and then sometomes the fan turns maybe for 1 minute then the fan stops. the red light remains on but it won't turn anymore and just stops responding to any movemnt on the dial except when turned to 0 when the red light goes out. I haven't use either of them in about 4 months but they worked perfectly before when i used them. Please help!!

How do you use the dial and what is it for

This heater has both a dial and a wattage selector. The dial is a thermostat, so it will turn the heater on and off as the temperature gets warmer and colder. Just like the thermostat on the wall in a house. The wattage selector switches let you pick how much heat goes in when the thermostat (the dial) tells the heater to turn on.
If you set the wattage at a higher level, the heater will use more power at once, but will turn on and off fewer times to keep the temperature determined by the dial setting.
If you set the wattage to a lower level, the heater will use less power at once, but will turn on more often and still use about the same amount of electricity.
So the dial really lets you pick how warm you want it to be in the room, and the wattage switches let you pick how often it turns on and gets hot. So this dial really determines how hot your room will be.

Creda Night Store Heater model 79154

The dial on the wall with 1-24 on it, with the red pins, is the timeswitch to turn the heater on for night-rate hours (when the electricity is cheapest). Hour 1 is 1am --> Hour 24 is midnight.
Set the red pins to turn the heater on from 11PM (23) to 7am (7). The 'on' symbol is normally a '1', with off being '0'. Otherwise, on can be symbolised with a staright line with circles on it, while off is like a little barrier-arm part up.
As for the knobs on the heater, one is for the amount of heat which goes in (how much the heater 'charges'), and the other is for how much it lets out.
Genrally in winter you set the input (nite-store, second knob) to full (6), but in spring or autumn you may reduce this as required.
The other knob (room temp) is for how much heat comes out of ther heater. If you work during the day, you will want to conserver the stored heat in the heater.
Turn the room temp knob down to about 3 when you leave for work, and wind back up to 6 when you get home. This will stop all the heat leaving the heater during the day (and maybe use less power to recharge at night).
Good luck with the time switch. Check your night-rate hours on your power account.

As its only 6 months old it should be covered by the warranty, you should be able to get it repaired by your dealer, with no cost to you.

Delonghi Pinguino Classic Portable Air Conditoner Works for 30 min then red light comes on

Have it serviced. It cost me $250 to have a pro do it. Also, check the timer (the dial is hidden by a sliding cover on my unit). My husband cleaned it himself a year later and he took it apart to do it and it works much better now. When he opened it up, it was full of calcium deposit and dust. He told me he did not think the unit had been cleaned properly by the pro.

Vulcan oil heater

1. Check electricity is on.
2. Check oil is in the tank and valve turned on.
3. Switch the fan off at the bottom left hand corner.
4. Switch oil knob to No.1.
5. Set Air knob to No.3.
6. Operate re set button (right hand corner of heater under settings dial). Either press in until it clicks or if the pull out version pull out until it clicks.

Wait - ignition should take place in a few minutes and flames will appear on the left of the burner under the radiants.

You should get occasional yellow crests above the pure blue flame just visible below the top row of burner holes under the radiants.

After the red warning light goes out you can adjust to higher settings.

The radiants do not glow on low setting.

You can adjust the heater on to higher settings but this should be done gradually - no more than 2 settings at a time.

Some warnings:

* The unit must be correctly earthed.
* Do not use anything except heater oil.
* Never attempt to re-light the heater when it is hot.
* If the red light does not appear when the oil knob is switched on, immediately turn the oil knob off. Reasons include: Heater is too hot; Electric plug turned off; failure of ignition system.

Good luck - no responsibility taken for the advice (but it is largely copied from my Vulcan heaters instruction manual which I still have (installed in 1967).
