I just installed my Epson Stylus Photo RX520 yesterday, the rest of it works perfectly except the scanner and thats exactly what i need to use.
It only scan's about an inch of a strip of the photo sample correctly but the rest of the page comes completely grainy grey or black or unrecognizable. There are about 5 other user's on this website that have the same problem with the same or close to it product.
So if you could please help.

try copying a page and see if that works
that will prove the unit is not faulty
if that works unplug the printer uninstall the printer software restart the computer reinstall the printer software and plug the printer in when asked.
if copy doesnt work the unit is most likely faulty

That's not hard, switch on the printer, just open the place where u put the cartridges and wait for the cartridge slot to come out, wait until it comes to a halt all by it's self, the printer does it automatically. Then just figure out what's the correct direction of putting the cartridges in.
Same problem - scans the inch wide strip (perfrectly) and the rest is a mess.
Anyone know the solution?
i have the same problem too its been working great till only recently i did try wiping the scanner glass and it seemed to work but for only a brief spell,please can someone help,ive got loads of owrk i need to do .
