I have a Daewoo DRT-10, DVB-T DVD RECORDER under 2 years, It will no longer record from the EPG application, the screen keeps going blank, I have to then unplug it replug it and switch it back on. It won't play (anymore) pre recorded region 2 dvd's and when using the remote control, mixes up buttons. for example if I press no 2 it switches off or chooses another channel or application. When using the EPG if I'm moving through the channels it will skip days or instead of being 1 hour view skips to 2 hour views. I have not moved it in anyway so have not damaged it. Hope you can help. Sophie

Flashing red cassete light mean

So.... Who uses a VCR any more. They are ancient history.
They don't last forever so perhaps it's time to think ahead....

The modern way to Record video is to use a Hard Disk Drive Recorder rather than a VCR. They have a built in tuner and can record 2 stations at once and have a built in Electronic Program Guide. The EPG info is transmitted with the Digital TV transmission from the broadcaster.
I bought one 2 weeks ago for an old 85yo friend so he could record late night stuff and play back later. He still uses the VCR but only for old VHS Tape playback. I got him a TEAC HDR9650TS Digital Video Recorder and I picked it up new for Aus$188.

Main Features:
DVB-T Twin Digital Turners
DVR Recording: Record three channels while watching a 4th from same network Smart Series Record feature to record a whole series at a touch of a button
2.5" Sata Hard disk: 500GB
Time Shift Function (Pause live TV)
HDMI Digital Output
Digital Audio Output
CVBS/YPbPr/SPDIF connectors
Supports TV formats 4:3 and 16:9
Electronic Program Guide (EPG) up to 7 days in advance
EPG searching and auto download
Recorded program edit
Parental Control
Copy files from internal HDD to external HDD
Built-in WiFi
Network Playback
USB 2.0 Interface

Cheers
Good Luck
Maybe you can get a little more life out of that VCR still

Panasonic troubleshooting

I guess you mean a Set Top Box to convert digital TV transmission to old analog TV. Choose the correct video format for your screen.
Ah... Perhaps Your recording at an old standard & passing it to a modern TV or HD TV with the digital output from 1080 HD to 720 or lower still.
OR
Get a Digital Hard Drive recorder.....

I don't know how to tune the digital channels in my vcr. I can automatically tune channel 2, 9, 10, etc but not 7mate, 99Go etc

If your unit does not state DVB anywhere, either in the manual, or on the unit itself, and there are no options to tune in digital services via the menu on screen (as well as no EPG), chances are the tuner in it is analogue only, hence why you cannot tune digital channels in it. To receive all SD/HD digital channels, you would need to connect an external set top box to the recorder's AV inputs, and record/view them that way. (Set top boxes are cheaper than upgrading TVs and DVD equipment in many cases).

The only positive point here is it didn't cost you a workshop repair fee or a new unit - the user manual as a pdf for this model is available on FixYa if needed.

Polaroid dra-01601a hdd to dvd recording

You will have to split the title and record on more than one DVD. The default speed is SP, that is 2 hours of recording. If you want to record longer programs, go into setup and change the default record speed to one of the other settings, for example: SP+ which is 2 1/2 hours or one of the other longer record settings. This DVD burner will only record at the same speed as you recorded to the hard drive. You can also edit out the commercials by using segment. Go to the title you want, press the right arrow, scroll down and select segment. When you want to start your edit, press enter. when you want to stop the edit, press enter again. You can use your right arrow to skip forward 30 seconds and your left arrow to skip back 10 seconds if you went too far when editing. You will see where your edits are on the screen by the darker color. Do this through the whole program. When you record to DVD, the commercials will not be recorded. Hope this helps you.

known issue with this unit. The power supply used in this unit is below quality and is often the cause of power not getting to rest of the unit. The company is from china and does not have a usa warranty service since they operate under the daewoo umbrella.
