If you set progressive scant On by accident, you must reset the unit. Remove any disc from the unit and close the disc tray. See that "disc" is displayed on the display window. Now press STOP and hold it for more than 5 seconds before releasing it. The video output will be restored to the standard setting and picture will once again be visible on a conventional analog TV or monitor.

This worked for me but instead of showing Disk it showed "Progressive scan" I held in the stop button on the DVD section of the unit for about 5 seconds then it changed to Goldstar worked fine after that. God what a stupid way to do this, but it just figures that a cheapO company couldn't afford real programmers.
Thanks for the help saved me a paid call to tech support.

Had same problem with my zenith DVT 723 combo dvd/vcr. called zenith customer service, said to:
1) Remove DVD from player.
2) Turn DVD off
3) Turn DVD on
4) Hold stop button on dvd for 30 seconds
Worked like a charm
I was watching a DVD and wanted to see what progressive scan would do. Stupid move. Did not get to watch DVD and lost use of player for about a week until my son suggested I contact you all. Smart kid!
Thanks again.
