Question about Panasonic SC-HT995W System

Panasonic SC-HT995W Home theatrer System

I have been using my Panasonic SC-HT995W for over 12 months with no problems but in August 2008 the unit started making a terrible loud noise as if a motor is running. It happens as soon as I turn the unit on and the noise remains until it is turned off.

It is not as though I use the unit every day. I use it on weekends and then its probabley only every few weeks. I can go for months without using the system.

It is very annoying when watching movies or listening to music.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

It's probably a ventilation fan that's making the noise. Locate it and see if you can clean out any dust or dirt in it.

SOURCE: F16 error occurs when trying to switch on DVD Home Cinema System

F16? I've seen F61. Usually an output IC problem, but it can be caused by a bad fan.
Remove the fan. Remove the sticker from the fan. Remove the small round piece of plastic (if it has one) from under the sticker. Put a couple of drops of oil or wd40 it it and spin the fan blades several times. Replace piece of plastic and sticker. Re-install the fan. Good Luck.

SOURCE: Error F61 How to reset

I'm sorry to say, but an F61 error can not be cleared by a reset. Please see the link below for an explanation of protect mode (F61 is Panasonic's version of protect). Usually the output amp pac will need to be replaced. This will cost between $75 and $100 for the part. Feel free to post any additional questions here.

I have a panasonic SC PT960 system. Haven't used in months. Turned on,got error code F76. Tried unplugging and plugging back in to reset, but it did not work. What is wrong with my system?

"F76" is a power supply problem. Could be something really simple or something much harder to figure out. These units aren't really user serviceable and it's way too old to still be in warranty(?) so maybe you've been whapped with a subtle hint to upgrade to a blu-ray HT system. You'd be able to keep the rest of the system and just replace the head unit.

My Panasonic SC-HT995W keeps on flashing W and the rear speakers wont work. Ive tried turning off all other wireless devices but it still persists

I had exactly the same problem. My unit worked fine until a loose power cable resulted in the receiver being turned on and off a couple of times in quick succession and then after this the a/c in light on the rear speaker was lit but the wireless link light would not come on (and the 'W' on the main unit flashed constantly). The solution for me was basically a reboot. This is what I did;
- unplug the wireless receiver
- unplug the main unit
- remove the digital transceiver unit from its slot in the back of the main unit
- plug the main unit back in and turn it on - the 'W' won't flash as the transceiver has been removed (not sure if you if it's necessary but I made sure it was producing sound to the front speakers)
- unplug the main unit again
- reinsert the digital transceiver
- plug the main unit back in, turn it on and set it to produce output/sound (the 'W' will be flashing)
- then plug the wireless receiver back in again
...presto the link is made, the 'W' stops flashing and the rear speakers work again.

Hope this elaborate reboot works as well for you as it did for me.

check the fan, if its dusty clean it then run the player. If it works, your in luck. If the fans are moving and f61 still shows up, the D-amp IC is shortened ( inside you will see IC 5000/IC5200 / IC 5300, these needs to be replaced) its the one by the big cooling fins (behind the rear fan)

Change speakers on Panasonic SC-HT995W

absolutely ,but remember that theese home theater combo,s are sonically matched so you should find speakers that are rated to the same power handling and frequency response of the one,s you are replacing, if the frequency response is close to what you had that will work fine , if you were to use speakers that were rated for higher output your amplifier will not be able to push the sound of the higher rated speakers and you would not be getting the optimal listening experience , thanks and i hope i helped you ,sincerely Glenn
