Engine starts fine when foot pedal is disengaged engine stalls, can't get and forward or reverse movement without engine stalling. Have had mower for one season. Starts fine and no idle problems until PTO is engaged.

There is a idler pivot plate on the mower that must be cleaned and lubricated regularly, from the left side of the mower deck if you look in the middle of the mower deck while someone engages the mower(with the engine off) you will see the pulley try and move, there is a 3/8 bolt that comes up through a bushing that this pivots on, soak that area with wd-40 and see if that improves the movement. Be sure not to get any wd-40 on the belt or pulleys. Always try and keep that area clean and lubed.

Try jacking the unit up. Start it up and try moving pushing the forward and reverse back and forth and see if it does it then. It sounds like an oil way in the hydrostatic unit has a check valve stuck. Of course make sure that the fluid lever is up. Hope this will help you. donnyb60
