SOURCE: menu keeps popping up

Never a good idea to clean with any spray cleaner. The cleaner does get down in the button bar and cause corrosion and shorting along ribbon cable. Use screen wipes for computer monitors only on TV's and any type of monitors. You can remove the back of the case. And remove the button board and clean with a cue tip and alcohol along ribbon cable.

SOURCE: config screen keeps popping up

A friend of mine had the exact same same problem. I think I fixed it, because it has been 2 hours, without the menu popping up. You need to open the monitor:

- Place it face-down on a flat surface
- Remove the cover of the hinge by gripping it with both hands and gently squeezing and pulling.
- Undo the 4 screws and remove the stand (base)
- Undo the four screws tha hold the cover down (4 corners)
- Use a flat screwdriver to seperate the 2 halves (I used 2, a small one to lift the back, a bigger one for leverage)

You will see a small PCB, fastened by 3 screws, at the bottom (where your menu+on/off buttons are) with a ribbon connection to the screen. Next:

- Unscrew the PCB, and gently lift it out.
- Clean the microswitches and the ribbon cable connection.
- Reassemble the monitor.

To clean microswitches and the connection, I used Kontakt Video 90 spray. There must be sprays on the market where you are. It's basically an alcohol-based cleaning spray. Good for cleaning video/tape/floppy heads, CD/DVD lenses, memory modules, etc.

Good luck!

SOURCE: Mouse click turns monitor on, (green light), but

It has dying power supply due to bad DC filter caps, that will be the first place to look.
If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed ACER and other monitors to get some ideas what to look for:
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electic extensions or just replace them they are probably old and faulty a computer needs its connections to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

hope this helps

When I power off my LCD monitor, the screen goes all white, but once I turn the monitor back on it goes right back to displaying whatever it should on the screen. Or when I shutdown the computer it also...

If this has happened to two monitors on the same computer, then i dont think the problem is with monitors, i think the problem is with the graphics on the computer, i suggest uninstalling the driver for the graphics card in device manager and then restart the pc to see if that makes any difference. The divice manager in in the properties of my computer icon, just right click and choose properties, then device manager.

Hi. when i set my acer x193w monitor to 1440 x 900 resolution, the display becomes scarmbled. please help. thanks

One option you have is to go to safe mode and uninstall video driver in device manager and reboot your pc and it will detect it by it self and put it in right resolution. It is possible that drivers were corrupted if it got scrambled, also make sure it can support it. Best place to get drivers would manufacturer site not via update driver button. To get to safe mode you need to shut down your pc and press power to turn it back and and once this is done keep on tapping F8 key until you get Advanced Startup Menu. From here just choose safe mode and follow prompts. Once in safe mode right click on my computer and click manage option. On left side of new window click on Device Manager and locate driver for display. Right click on it and click uninstall and follow prompts. Once done reboot and should be all set. Good luck

My gateway monitor shows a picture for about 1 second then turns to blacked out screen with power light still on. I can shut the power off on the monitor then turn it back on only to have it do the same...

Your power settings may need to be changed, it appears to be going into sleep mode or power saving mode.

If you are using Vista, Click Start> Control Panel > Power Options > "choose when to turn off display" (in the left hand pane) and check that it says at least 10 minutes. Click apply and then ok.

Alternatively, right click on your desktop, select "personalise" and click on screen saver - then select "change power settings" to bring you to the same thing.

If you have xp, right click on your desktop and select "properties" then "screensaver| > "Power" and change it to turn off the monitor after 10 minutes. Click apply then ok.

If your monitor is going to sleep, either press a key or wiggle the mouse to wake it up.

Hope that helps.

Gateway FPD1530 loses image shortly after powering up.

try booting into safe mode. press F8 while the computer is booting. see if everything stays normal. It should tell you that it booted into safe mode. Once there, change the resolution or the frequency of the display(also known as the refresh rate) by right clicking on the desktop and selecting properties. Once there, click the tab all the way to the right, it should give you color quality options and resolution options. At the bottom, there should be an advanced tab. Depending on our video card this menu can be different from others. Look in that new window for and option to change the refresh rate or the frequency. The value will be in xxx hertz. try setting it to 60 hertz.

Monitror keeps cycling through on-off

I also just recently started having this problem. If you look at the power brick the power indicator flashes on and off with the monitor. I think that the power brick is bad. I switched to a different monitor and the computer works fine. The en-9110 cycles on/off with or without a computer attached. I contacted Envision about an RMA.

Monitor turning off

If I understand you problem correctly, your monitor is turning off when it remains idle? Does it come back on when you use the keyboard or move the mouse? If so, then this could just be caused by the computer's power-save settings. This can be adjusted by right clicking on the the desktop and selecting propeties. Go to the screensaver tab and click on the power button. From here, you can either set the "Turn Off Monitor Time" to never, or to a greater period of time.
